STEVEN BOWERS.

This up and coming new artist is fantastic. He will be touring this year as far as Toronto and I think further west.

Charlene if you love, Ron Sexsmith, and Aengus Finnan, and singers like them, you will enjoy this guy.

My favorite song of him is; 'Your Pretty Fault.' Low and high voice on that song.

I beleive he's from Liverpool Nova-Scotia.

July 23rd indeed, if you can make it to the Renaissance Cafe, request ,'Your Pretty Fault, maybe you heard it before I thought he would be fairly new to you folks in Toronto. But then again you told me you knew who Eddy Gouchie was. So what can I say.

Char,

Thanks for providing the link to James Hunter. That is a truly "easy" listen, very pleasant. It's amazing how many gifted artists are unknowns. Cruising around the Myspace music site, I think he is now the 4th artist from the UK that has "wowed" me with their music.

Out of curiousity, how did you hear about this chap ?

Steven Bowers, I saw him in Moncton NB, On Songwriters Circle. He should do good in the buisness. Just him and his guitar, at the Circle, he was outstanding. Very young man too, in his 20's.

Glad you enjoyed him mnmouse, but you got a hear, 'Your Pretty Fault.'

At that Songwriters Circle, we discover a lot of good talented people.

Another one would be Floyd Anderson, with the group Saltwater Roses.

I could give you dozens of names. My good friend Eddy Gouchie, from the St-George area, has been compared to Lightfoot for his songwriting ability. A deep rich voice, and an incredible guitar player. He had ask me to manage him, but I felt I couldn't do it. You have to see these people live acoustic, to really see what there made of.

I used to feel amazed by that, too, Ron, but the last three years have shown me so many instances of gifted performers flying below the radar of fame and recognizability that anymore, I expect it. There are some really great talents that one has to find by accident or by word of mouth - because you won't hear them on the radio unless you're lucky enough to have an NPR station in your listening area (unfortunately, I'm not that lucky).

I really liked the James Hunter clips - so much so that I ordered his new CD from Amazon

Steven Bowers was good too.

Thanks to both Jesse-Joe and Char for the links

Janice,

I have this habit of stating the obvious.

I have a couple of friends in the fields of law and education who have achieved great success, both from respect by their peers and financially. They both attribute their advancement to "Luck". I would disagree, but they don't talk to me anymore.

I think Lightfoot's humility springs from the same spirit of "right place, right time".

Quite welcome Janice, did you ever hear of JP Cormier, and Lennie Gallant?

JP's, Cd of, 'The Long River;' A Personal Tribute to Gordon Lightfoot.
If you never heard that one. I hope you get the chance. Everything you hear on the cd, is him. The voice, all instruments, my gosh he plays everything. And has played with top acts in Nashville. He's from Cape Breton, Nova- Scotia. He is a big Lightfoot fan. Im surprised he's not on this site, too busy I guess, and yet again who knows?

http://jp-cormier.com

He's got his own Independant recording studio, which a person can purchase cd's of different new talent. Eddy Gouchie & others. IAG Check it out...

Lennie Gallant is from South Rustico, Prince Edward Island. Here is a great singer songwiter, great voice. Has also covered Lightfoot music. My favorite song of Lennie is, 'Peter's Dream.' I hope you can hear him one day...

www.lenniegallant.com

You can even email him, if you choose. He does answer his email...Jesse.

He plays blues, rock, folk... Very talented nice guy. He just got back from Kerrville Texas.

Where the late great Stan Rogers did his last performance, way back in 1983?? Just before the plane crash. The Kerrville Folk Festival..

At the 2002 Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas, his yeoman work on the a cappella "O'Shaughnessy's Lament" was honoured with the New Folk Songwriting Award.

Hey Charlene- that's just great. He is talented there's no doubt about that. The song 'Lightfoot,' which he wrote for Gordy, is amazing to say the least.

The first time I heard it, I was at Frank's music, and I dont have to tell you what I was doing there. LOL :D

And the CD Beautiful, A Tribute To Gordon Lightfoot, was just out, and the owner being a Lightfoot fan was playing it in the store. I almost fell to the floor when this track came on.

I almost told everyone in the store to shut up. But since Im a nice guy, :D and couldn't do that, I did the next best thing. I moved closer to the speakers. And all those lines, coming out of the speakers one after the other, I tell you, what a beautiful gift for the magical Gordon Lightfoot.

I know JP. Cormier made Lightfoot cry when he heard his rendition of 'The Poet,' live in Toronto. JP, said in an interview that it was very hard to do in front of the man. Maybe you were there Char?

Im listening to the Tribute one right now, it's Ron doing Drifters.

Congratulations to Aengus, he deserves it...Jesse.

Pretty good chance? Oh puhleeze!!!! Is there even a chance that you wouldn't be there??
I had the pleasure of being there too. I can't even imagine how nervous these musicians must have been to perform in front of Lightfoot. I give them a lot of credit.

Another great singer songwriter from the St-Andrews area. Beautiful place St-Andrews.

If you check her website, have a listen to Saltwater Women, sounds like a young Joni Mitchell.

Jessi, is Matt Anderson the guy who ran the open mic for years in Perth? It looks like him. If so, I've met him.
