One of my favorite remakes is the 1987 version of,"Lean On Me" by 2 hit wonder group Club Nouveau.
They took Bill Wither's soulful heartfelt #1 ballad and made it into a dance song "but"!...because they sang it with such carefree joy and happiness,it honestly did not take any of the sentiment away from the original.
Another '87 fav. is the re-make of,"Funkytown" by 1 hit wonder Pseudo Echo. (Hmmm...2 groups with words in their name that imply unreal or unoficcial,strange!

)
Only 7 years after the original went to #1 (May/June 1980),they took their pop/rock version to #6 in July '87. I thought it was really cool!
Being done in the '80s,"Lean On Me",could have very easily been turned into a cold,electronic music/beat kind of song with a singer that could care less about emotion. Thankfully,that's not the case!

P. Echo did a great job as well,keeping the song as upbeat as the 1st time.
I'm sure as far as least favorite goes,I and most Beatles fans certainly
abhoard(spelling?) Tiffany's "I Saw "Him" Standing There",from that same year!

Yik!!!
Been me. Later!
