Ya know I swore I would not involve myself with this little topic, primarily because the lines of where "things" "issues" etc change so much in the course of these dialogs (could be monologues too, I supppose--especially when they are issues about people eating and insanity reigning). However I have watched opinion upon opinion metamorphise here and sadly no one persons issues are any greater or louder spoken than Brinks', while we all go home tonight and have a warm meal a little t.v. maybe and discussion with family or loved ones we are not teetering on the edge of homelessness. It always seems to me that the little person is destroyed most frequently, why? Our opinions mean little when they are used to bludgeon those incapable of control in their lives. What have we become here on this site dedicated to a man who sings from the bottom of his soul a song about treating others as you would self, to be specific "and the house you live in will never fall down if you pity the stranger who stands at your gate". Brink I don't know what to say to you, except I am sorry that you have to go throught this...and if there is anything I might help you with please ask and I promise I will do what I personally possibly can. We really can overcome terrorism but we cannot become the terrorists, my friends and believe me there is a very fine line between us and them. Let's not destroy one another with hard calculated comments. Let's remember those less fortunate and I mean this to imply those less fortunate in spirit and compassion towards their fellow man so, search yourselves and consider where this topic really has lead you. Could you be some place unfamiliar to yourself? Remember, opinions are so unfair, often even to the person who holds the opinion, for you must live with this opinion. Take care all of you.

OK Riffstorm, enough is enough. Polite and mature people don't pour gasoline, throw a lighted match and walk away.Bringing up a discussion on politics in this forum shows bad judgement and is in poor taste. You know that the people who frequent this forum have wildly different and passionate beliefs. Why would you want to pit them against each other? Your latest post will bring up a very nasty discussion about religion and people are even more passionate about their religious beliefs thsn they are about their political beliefs. I suggest that you delete this whole topic and keep your posts to subjects that are not so devisive and inflamatory.

to gwen snyder,

please speak for yourself, thank you. There is about a 5,000 mile gap between me and any former or present US & allied military folks and "terrorists".

A "fine line" between us, I think not. If you don't believe in evil, that's fine, but because you don't believe in it doesn't mean it does not exist.

Bill

(spelling, LOL)

Your right Bill. There is not a fine line separating us and the terrorists. That comment is so far out there I won't even dignify it with anything else. Man, that one is really out there.

I used to vote for the man and not worry about Democrats or Republicans. Now, I am sorry to say that the Democrats are so far to the extreme left that Republicans must win for the good of this country. Gwen's comment about "the fine line" is a fine example of what I mean by the extreme leftists. That is just uncalled for. By the way, I have always considered myself a Republican but at one point in time you could look at the person, and not political boundries. That is no longer the case.

"Ya know I swore I would not involve myself with this little topic,..." You know GS, you also told us that you were leaving this site but your still here. I guess you go back on your word a lot huh?? Should we take what you say with a grain of salt or should we take you seriously? Just let us know where we stand, pick a position and stick to it.

my position is that we (ie our government)trained all of the deviants that exist to any large or small scale out there in our world...fine line indeed since when we look in the mirror how can we see if we are them or if they are us? Needless to say there are many people who think the way I think here in my humble world full of mouthy irreverants who inflame every issue with there "opinion". Opinions stink. There are so many times that these interlopers have come into this site and created this disorder, yet the reactions continue. I am here WM, get used to it, h*** get comfortable if you like, take off your shoes and set a spell, BS and I won't complain. But, we will give our comments accordingly and you just have to get used to it.

Where did you get the idea I had a problem with people "giving comments"? Just because I think you are way off for saying there is just a fine line dividing us and those who bombed the WTC on 9/11, is entirely different than saying that you or anyone else shouldn't post.

Gwen, you stated you weren't coming back and I simply asked if we should take you for your word or simply let it go in one ear and out the other from now on. You like to ride on your emotions and consequently let your emotions control you while you post. Try thinking through things prior to posting. Then maybe you will be able to stand behind what you say. It will also solve the problem of you having to delete your posts when others prove you to be incorrect.

Take a stand when you make bold statements GS. Whether it be about leaving this site or bizarre comments about a contest and the winner receiving a prize. Your word should be honest and forthright.

take a stand ... yes, how appropriate, my stand is I am not in a corner, you are the master of "delete the entire world I created here" if memory serves me right, is this correct or not WM? Approximately one year ago as I recall... but, let's not be rude or obnoxious, the odors get too bad. Let's remember who we are, I am not the anti-Christ or a liar or an unjust ruler of the universe, let's be friends ok. I may not be on the side of all you agree with but, you being here says we are on the same side regarding a musical talent that we both admire. Let's leave it there.

Yes, that is correct but it had nothing to do with retracting anything I had written because I had angered somebody or because I thought I had been proven wrong or had displayed some psycho behavior and then was ashamed of it.

People such as yourself were sending me emails saying that you agreed with what I had been posting and then gave me some more ideas to post about. When I did, these people such as yourself blasted me, deleted your own posts and made it look like I was out in left field. I was set-up on more than one occasion and instead of reading each post I had written to get rid of the head games, I deleted them all. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice and shame on me.

Now, I will post with a reply so even if someone does delete their post in which I am responding to, their quote will still be in my thread. Too bad I didn't realize this sooner and some of you would not have been able to play such childish games. There you have it.

This thread started out with the President's address to the union. People gave their opinions which is fine. But when people say there is only a fine line separating us and the terrorists, that my statements are frightening to my friends etc., that is not sticking to the topic. It is "rude and obnoxious". Let's put "rude and obnoxious" where it really is. You take a simple thread and have to toss in such extreme un-patriotic crap into it and then say let's not fight when someone rebutts what you write? Come on. If you can't take the heat, don't post controversial opinions in here. I know, that probably makes too much sense.

My personal best so far 206.

Ya know, you can get the little bugger almost as far by skidding him on the snow?

And thank you. I needed the laugh.

Jenney Rivard scored something like 485!
I had one hit where the penguin soared so high he went off the screen. I thought, "Ahhh. This is the one to break all records!" Didn't work though. He did a nose dive at 207 feet.

I've had bunches that went off the screen but then they nose dive somewhere in the 200's. The only way to break 300 seems to be by hitting a grounder so to speak.

317 so far, and I've now got my sister addicted

Sure, you can find bad, bad people in every culture. But do you recall when Tim McVeigh was arrested? Remember the reaction of the crowd outside? They expressed nothing but the deepest distain and revulsion for him. Eventually, our country gave him the ultimate penalty for his crime.
The difference is that Islamic terrorism is not only the most prevailant form of international terrorism today, but in many islamic societies, these terrorists are not reviled, but revered. They are not called terrorists or criminals, but "Shaheeds". Shaheed means martyr. To be a martyr is considered one of the greatest honors in Islam and one of the few ways that a Muslim can assure his or her place in heaven. Suicide is supposed to be forbidden in Islam, but they seem to overlook this little snag when commiting their murderous acts.
You may say, "Oh, but some people admired Tim McVeigh" and yes some people did and do, but the majority would find him to be a repugnant form of life and most Americans would be ashamed he was from the same country as they. However, islamic terrorists are refered to as martyrs, not by small groups of admirers, but even on Arab nations' state run and independent news broadcasts. Homicide bombings are called "martyrdom operations." Yes, I have seen arab news broadcasts, so I'm not getting this information second hand. I've heard them utter these words with my own ears.
When a homicide bomber blows himself to bits, his poster is hung on buildings and he is celebrated. His parents are congratulated for the wonderful thing that their child has done. I'm not saying all Muslims believe this or support this, but what I am saying is that while Tim McViegh and his ilk were supported by a small fringe of society, support or acceptance of Islamic Terrorists is a current that runs through the main stream of many Islamic societies and the Muslims who condemn it appear to be the ones at their societies' fringes.

I get the best results by hitting the penguin right in the collar bone. Ouch.

Ya know Riffstorm you are beginning to sound like a terrorist. I think we've lost the reason why most of us are here, fans of Gordon Lightfoot. I for one choose now to shut you out, you anger people for your own personal pleasure, who just want to come here to converse. As they say on TV:
YOU ARE THE WEAKEST LINK! GOODBYE!!

Riffstorm, you are a nothing. You are a loser. You are a fool. You see evil where there is none. Islamic people that become terrorists are and or were forced to under the rule of evil men. Men who talked these poor souls into believeing they are killing and dying for an ultimate victory and global domination for their country.

You asked us to give our view of the U.S. Presidents speech. We gave you that. We did not care to hear the rantings of a lonely, cynical, delusional & paranoid man that most likely sits home and makes his nowhere plans being the Nowhere Man that you so obviously are. Leave now, before the CIA or FBI track you down. And WE are not kidding. Your choice. Make it. Oh,and shut up.
