Last night, at work at about an hour before quitting time I was feeling pretty wear. It seemed like the whole week was filled with stress. Earlier in the week I was visiting my elderly patients at the various nursing homes and hospitals, I found that one gentleman who lately has seemed to decline a bit more had to have a stomach feed tube put in, he is doing poorly, it just effects me when these things occur. As the service officer for the local VFW, it is my job to go visit members in hospitals nursing homes, shelters. Normally I find this a joy to do, yet small things effect us all, this really effected me and I rushed on into my busy week. I work in an area in our plant called the registry room, this week the number of bodies seems larger than normal, yet, in the winter is when a lot of people die, especially the elderly. Well, dragging these bodies around and getting them ready to be dispatched on to the next facility wore me out. So, at about the time mentioned above, I could feel the stress of all this, in my upper back, fatigue. When I here over the intercom system that lovely voice singing "If You Could Read My Mind". It really chased my mood away, the stress disappeared. It encouraged me to finish up my night and race out into that snowstorm to get home.

Yish. Makes my job look like a piece of cake.

I remember back in early November being put on hold yet again while I was trying to save yet another policy for one of our clients from being cancelled because they have trees on their lot . . . in an alpine forest . . . where this spineless ninny of an insurance company knowingly wrote . . . when "Song for a Winter's Night" came out of the receiver. It was like a deep breath after being underwater too long. It reminded me why I live where I live.

And no, I didn't succeed, and we're still waiting for the lawsuits to start.

Must be one of those phases of the moon. I got a call at 7:30 this morning that our mother was ill. We brought her to the ER with what I think is a recurrence of post-stroke seizures she had a few years ago: didn't know her own name, how many kids, what day it is, where she lived, etc. She's been admitted and will be in at least until Monday as they adjust her meds. Hopefully the mental fog will lift - she's had a few lucid moments and ate some lunch.
And then the pup was sick today - threw up this morning and then did a real loose number on the kitchen floor (my 20 year old was left to clean up the mess since his Dad and I were at the hospital - see above). Don't know if he got into something he shouldn't have or just inhaled his food too fast. He seemed okay later except one episode of coughing in the evening - can dogs have asthma?? Anyway, he's nipping and chasing his toys and, er, things have firmed up. Please God, no more phone calls for a while unless it's a lottery official <g>

Annie my best wishes to you and your Mother, not to mention my prayers as well.

I know how you feel Gwen, between 7:35 and 7:40 last night I was at the hotel on the 2nd floor, not being to thrilled at having to work on a Fri. night. Over our satellite music system, that goes through the whole hotel, was that very same song! I stood under the speaker and just listened to it for a few. Unfortunatly, the song didn't end in time before one of my co-workers spotted me and, naturally asked, what'r you doing? "Just listning to one of my favorite songs." Later!

B a couple weeks ago I was found lurking in the soap aisle at the grocery store because Carefree Highway was playing. Annie, I hope the dog stays firm and that your 20 y/o forgives it. Hope your mom comes around quickly. I agree with all of you that Gord's music somehow makes you forget the day to day yuk, I really can't remember any time that I have equated Gord's music with a bad memory. All of you take care and maybe next week will be better for all.

well, anyway tonight I heard "Carefree Highway". Small glimmers of life and no bodies in the mail today (you understand that these are cremated remains in boxes). I wish you all a carefree highway kind of day... bye

Gord-friends:

It is wonderful to be alive! I am pleased for all of you that you are able to face these daily concerns. My prayers go with each of you as you deal with your own issues, but be reminded that life is beautiful and we are fortunate to be here on earth to deal with the issues that arise.

Am I sounding a bit prophetic? Well, you must pardon me then. Tonight I am able to sit here at my computer in my home. Last night at this time I was having a catheter removed from my groin following angioplasty and insertion of a stent in the main artery to the front of my heart. I am one of the lucky ones who, at age 48, got the early warning signs and heeded them rather than dropping over dead from a sudden heart attack. I now know that heart disease is a very real risk of my family history and I have inherited it. I will have to change my lifestyle somewhat but, thank God, I'm still here to do that!

During heart catheterization you remain conscious throughout the procedure. I don't remember if it was during the initial cath at Noon or during the angioplasty last night, but I distinctly remember in the background, issueing from the radio station they had on in the speakers...Gord's voice. Unfortunately they were all laughing and joking throughout the procedures and I wasn't able to just listen to him but I knew that he was right there with me as he has been throughout the past 30 years or so!

Count your blessings everyone!

SUIM

P.S. Annie: Yes, dogs can have asthma symptoms. Your pup may also have tonsillitis which often affects puppies and causes the symptoms you describe. Good luck to your mom and your pup!

Somewher, I will keep you in my prayers and
I am glad everything seems to be progressing normally. We don't know how short life can be until tragedy occurs, glad your tradegy was diverted. You are very humble and correct in what you said...
Oh, Annie, I certainly pray that your mothers condition improves, life is so fragile (I actually hand-sewed a wall hanging with that saying "Life is fragile handle with prayer", it is such an appropriate saying. Also, my dog has allergies and I give her an allergy medicine for humans (her vet said it would work and it has), it is half the dose of a young child, but, generic. So, if they can have diabetes and allergies they can have asthma, sounds logical right?
Violet Blue Horse ah-h the lawsuits will follow won't they? People are sue crazy anymore.
Bs, yeah, that's what I felt like doin' just leanin' against the wall and listenin' but, I was scootin around there like a wild woman, hearin' it really encouraged me. And tonight, Carefree highway was a reason to stop and just smile. People walking past the cage must have thought I had finally fallen off my rocker, I work in a caged area, a fence encloses me in a small room, kind of like Hannibal Lecter in the Silence of the Lambs. It is the Postal answer to security within a secure area. People put signs all over the cage saying don't feed the animals, etc. So, here I sit with this large smile on my face and a song in the background, must be an odd picture. even I thought boy his music effects me strange these days, you could be right Auburn Annie, lol.
Brink, next week will be better and we will be closer to that future concert date.
Goodnight all, I'll keep you in my prayers. God bless you all.

If I'm having love problems, "For Lovin' Me" actually calms me, believe it or not.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!

For Lovin' Me is calming me down too. Ex's sister was already ragging on me because I'd been married before him, and was therefore damaged goods and not "worthy" of her brother, and now that he has left me I can put my tongue in my cheek and sing with GL,

I've got a hundred more like you
So don't be blue
I'll have a thousand 'fore I'm through
