Sometimes Cobwebs and Dust gets in my mind and stays there like a nursery rhyme. I rather like it that way.

Just last week it was,"Why Should I feel Blue?"

Probably because it was the first song he played when I saw him in Reno in September (which was the first time I've seen him live), it's "Never Too Close".

I've had the song "Christian Island" in my head since the trip to Split Rock last Thursday. It so captured the mood as we drove along the lake shore, and is such a happy song. I've been singing it to myself for days and it keeps me smiling.

I'm posting this today because "Canadian Railroad Trilogy" has so far played through,no less than ten times in my head today!!
This is one that has never been stuck in my mind but for some reason it's there.
Just have to wait until the next song chimes in.

"Highway Songs" gets stuck in my head quite frequently. It's the type of song that could last for 10 minutes, and I would still say at the end, "What, it's over?!!"

Lazy Morinin' is common to get stuck there in the morning. Hi'Way Songs in the evening, especially when I "walk my own sod..."
"When I stand on my own sod it feels so good to be home, by God
The winter wind has turned my head but I always came up warm somehow"

When I first saw this topic I thought so he was talking about me.
A lot of the Harmony songs get stuck in my head, even though I don't play that album all the time. 'Fading Away' gets stuck too, as well as 'Blackberry Wine, Hi'Way Songs, Circle Of Steel,' and many others.

F.A.;....I'd never do a negative topic about anybody here!
Although I'm not big on the song,"Blackberry Wine" today!

For some unseasonable reason, "Summer Side of Life." Never could figure out why that wasn't one of his major hits. That mofo rocks!

Whenever I hear a MUZAK version of a Lightfoot tune I find myself "smiling in pain". I quickly try to cleans my cerebellum, cerebrum, mendulla oblungata or whatever that gray stuff that pours out of every CSI's cranium.
This can only be done by by burning 'sweet grass' and chanting "Gord" while sitting cross-legged in front of your favorite audio reproduction device and playing the appropriate tune.
One that I never hear in public, and is not penned by Gord is "Fairwell to Nova Scotia". What an "ear worm" that one is!
Oh, no....it's starting already!

Stuck in my mind…. This weekend it’s been If Children Had Wings, On the High Seas, and Your Love’s Return. Since putting down my guitar yesterday evening, after playing a few, I have to add, Second Cup of Coffee, Too Late for Prayin’ and Tattoo. Bits and pieces, sometimes large chunks, of them all just sort of flash through the head now and then. I’m sure the shuffle will change in a couple of days, and my mind’s juke box will refresh and pay for some new tunes. “If old Dan could see us now I know he’d be so proud.”

Hey Paul,"Summer Side..." did reach #98 on the Billboard Hot 100,so I guees you could say it was a very "minor" hit.
The folks at radio(then, like now) like to play god with people's career's. Radio giveth & then radio taketh away.
If you'd like to see what it may have been like in America if GL were a "superstar"...check out my topic,"If Lightfoot Were Bigger Than Elvis".

Stuck in my mind…. II…. Tracks change, after playin’ a few more this evening, Never Too Close, Bells of the Evening, Rainbow Trout and Long Way Back Home are now in the weekend song shuffle. Don’t quite know what’s dropped out of that mind-juke yet.

For the past few weeks I've had a CD "stuck" in my player. It's a compilation of some recordings of various jam sessions of a few Lightheads. amongst the songs is Derek's interpretation of Inspiration Lady (which is quite beautiful) and that's the song I've been humming the past couple of days.

Re: (It's Not) "Fading Away"!
For the first time (in a long time) one of Gordon's songs has returned to play in my head all day. "Saturday Clothes" is on up there as I type!
I had meant in different times this past year to talk about other songs that played but I either forgot to or have been too busy with my (thankfully)changing life.

Good song to be in your head, Walter. Happy to hear your life is changing. Wishing you the best of life.

Re: (It's Not) "Fading Away"!
My head is full of Magnificent Outpouring and Don't Beat Me Down.
I like both songs very much but I get tired of hearing tunes in my head that won't go away...lol.
Makes me feel like I am losing my mind.

Re: (It's Not) "Fading Away"!
Magnificent Outpouring, great guitar part by Red Shea at the very beginning. Terrific song, Gord's voice is incredible on that album "Did She Mention My Name." Probably the album that I've listened to the most.

Re: (It's Not) "Fading Away"!
Whisper My Name from Soundstage seems to be floating around in there right now. But, Shellfish was the song for a while. That tune really has a lot of merit. There is regret and then forgiveness of that regret. At the end of my life, I don't want to be "outsmarted by the things you've left undone". I want everyone to know how I feel right now, just in case something happens. Its really a philosophical lyric about getting right with loved ones. One of my favorites.
