I prefer the Couchiching jingle as a tribute to the area, but creative

hope this doesn't offend

I don't care who you are - now that's funny !

Having never seen the town I thought it was just a big Lightfoot shrine, LOL. Wonder why they didn't mention Gord...???

That's a riot jj! Another example of how vast the cultural divide between the US and Canada isn't!

Funny video with a sidebar of truth.

Not much in the way of farm animals and guns inside the city, but the scenery is authentic, and the Champlain Monument and water scenes are from Couchiching Park.

The economy, thankfully, has picked up over the years and businesses are starting to come back and open up with their services. There was a period back in the 80s-90s where shops were closing all over the place. It was really sad. My mom told me that in recent years City Council has been doing an excellent selling job to bring business back.

I haven't been there for 4 years, but hopefully I can pop in for a week sometime this year.

And yes, I will definitely stop at Tim Horton's. Donuts here in Sweden are pretty sad.

too funny...
those kids probably dont' even have a clue who Lightfoot is....
times are tough in all little towns where tourism greases the wheels...lots of bored kids with nothing to do means trouble...even if the Ontario Provincial Police Headquarters are right in town!
here's the local news:

That's funny.

I think everyone in that 15-35 age bracket still living near their hometown or in it wants to write a song like that.

I'm sure there could be a few creative jingles about Pittsburgh, PA. (And not just from the stuff Sienna Miller was spouting out during the filming of her latest movie)

too funny, thanks JJ.
I did recognize a few of those places. I went to the Stephen Leacock house/museum that was a nice afternoon. Other than Gord playing at the Opera House I saw no mention of him anywhere.

Man. I don't think those kids from Orillia have enough to do! Those are some pretty strange videos.

fun reading your responses

my sis and nieces from Orillia just recently shared that with me, so I'll pass on the thx

her trade up there is hair cutting ('clipping', as she calls it) and continues to provide the same mullet cut to nearly all for 25+ years...yes, she gives me mine for free, lol

Paul, you're right, this could be nearly any town...Somewhere, USA or just Somewhere, Anywhere

if the tune were about around here, the lyrics would slightly change from Casino Rama to Mohawk Raceway & Slots + I'm pretty sure some of the moms around here are NOT even teens yet + instead of the Leacock property they'd show the Robertson estate where the square holed screw was developed 100 years ago + there are less Tim's, probably every 4000 feet plus there's now a Starbucks in town but I can't get used to seeing guys with John Deere caps, strut bow-leggedly into Starbucks for their lattes

love to hear more about folks different take on lyrics to suit one's own vicinity

djb, glad to hear about the hometown, even if a million miles away

note:
although the creators chose to ride around in that amphibious vehicle over uneven ground and at high speeds while holding a pitchfork closeby, apparently no animals were harmed and no humans were impaled during the filming of the video
