As some of you might have noticed I keep a daily watch on E bay auctions using my quick link to the listing sorted newest items first(currently showing a somewhat overestimated claim at the top
"1593 items found for gordon lightfoot") at:-
http://www.ebaylightfoot.notlong.com
I do this partly to find new items for my growing collection of GL album and single picture sleeve artwork. Today I was rewarded with a "MEGARARE PORTUGUESE 45"
http://cgi.ebay.com/GORDON-LIGHTFOOT...QQcmdZViewItem
Interestingly the seller discosziggy2 of Madrid claims to:-
"INCLUDE 1.- SUNDAWN 2.- TOO LATE FOR PRAYIN' "
John Fowles
Obviously the singer is some sort of Minstrel of the Sundawn??
Another auction is for a vinyl copy of the original "Sit Down Young Stranger" album with a sticker on it:-

John Fowles
to the high side of the bay, 'cross the bay
Will it ever end I’ve been all the way to biscayne bay
The searchers all say they'd have made Whitefish Bay
With a heavenly sky and moonlight on the bay
She’ll be headin’ south through biscayne bay Into the open sea
and of course:-
Christian Island (Georgian Bay)

And now for something truly splendiferous from an Argentinian optimist/opportunist!!
Gordon Lightfoot T-Shirt Amazing Novelty Tee at:-
http://cgi.ebay.com/Gordon-Lightfoot...QQcmdZViewItem
"buy it now" price:-Only GBP 2.99 (Approximately US $5.20)
Also an unusual Dutch compilation album at:-
http://cgi.ebay.com/Lightfoot-Gordon...QQcmdZViewItem
Album sleeve front
Sleeve back too small to read the tracklist though
I have sent the seller (in WVA) a request for the list
for use in my collection project I have cropped those two pictures:-

John Fowles
I guess the Argie bargie is a Ghost from nearby Cape Horn!?

ops silly me I might have known that Wayne would know about this compilation, sure enough at:-
http://www.lightfoot.ca/storylst.htm
he has the tracklist but no picture:-
THE GORDON LIGHTFOOT STORY **
1971
UA Records (Holland) (5C 05292715)
Softly
The Way I Feel
I'm Not Saying
Did She Mention My Name
Don't Beat Me Down
If I Could
Early Morning Rain
Bitter Green
The Circle Is Small
Song For A Winter's Night
For Loving Me
Canadian Railroad Trilogy
John Fowles
See it is yet another regurgitation of tracks from the 5 great United Artists albums

Cool sleeve for Sundown but I have to say...I have never liked pictures of celebrities (especially my fav's)smoking or holding a cigarette!
It's not a very flattering thing to have your picture taken with something hanging from your mouth. Ick! He'd have been cool enough without it.

and today the ultimate ebay GL auction at:-
http://cgi.ebay.com/Gordon-Lightfoot...QQcmdZViewItem
"Gordon Lightfoot Collection 21 CDs RARE! ($400 Value)"

the seller one "deadlywolf" is in Rae Edzo, NT Canada
and he must be pretty desperate as his reason for selling is:-
"All discs are in excellent condition and were only listened to once.
My wife can not stand Gordon Lightfoot so either she goes or the collection goes!
Hence after much consultation the collection is up for auction.
This is a wonderful collection and will fill your life with as much joy as mine was,
until I met my wife.
Please save my marriage and buy this collection from me. PLEASSSE!!!!'
John Fowles
a variation on "Divorce Country Stle" anyways
OK do stop chortling and have some sympathy for this poor gentleman from Canada's frozen North country

Wonderful, truly impressive, compilation and collection of items. Thank you for the e-bay refrence, I will have to start looking myself. I've been listening to the albums since I bought my first one in 1967. Borderstone, please realize that the cigarette was a cultural thing at the time, and not what you would consider politically incorrect. This is a great post.

I've got the "master" audiophile copy of Sundown LP i wonder what that is worth... no matter. boy If my wife of 25 years had said its me or the CD's.....hmm......j/k poor guy up there that sux. I am having trouble with CD's "going out of print" allegedly in Colorado on releases since 1982 , noteably last 4 and songbook. - steve geodeticman

He must be a real fan since he has only played them once and then lists one of them as
A Painters Passing Thoughts. Instead of A Painter Passing Through.

I think I have to agree with your wife. Her butt would be out the door, accompanied by Lightfoot playing on the stereo at the highest volume level possible.

There are a pair of Canadian produced GL Karaoke CDs available from:-
http://www.karaokecloset.com/singking/main.php

Volume 1
and would you believe?

Volume 2
I recalled that a young (?) lady (Janie) from singking posted here when these were issued
Perhaps our resident artist (ZR) should contact Janie to try to offer his services to improve their offering's desultory appearance, sorry Janie but these two show precious litle imagination IMHO
and after a search I found the topic at:-
http://www.corfid.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ul...c;f=1;t=003035
That March 2005 topic reveals that said Janie is Member # 1036
I re-air this now because I spotted one of these on ebay at:-
http://cgi.ebay.com/Gordon-Lightfoot...QQcmdZViewItem
along with a VHS copy of the Harry Tracy video

at:-
http://cgi.ebay.com/HARRY-TRACY-vhs-...QQcmdZViewItem
although it is probaby preferable to hunt down the DVD version
John Fowles
And my love like the light above shall shine eternally
At the end of time, you'll still be mine and I'll be here with thee
from Les Pouliot's My Love For You as performed by Gord in this film

OK Bru then stop grinning insanely and if you have a scanner scan the text and either display it or better still use the scanner's OCR programme to extract the text. Wot you don't know what I am talking aboat? Then scan it anyway as large as you can then email it to me and I will try to OCR it for you

And here are a fine pair for Bonnie (bjb) and anyone else reading this from Edmonton:-

the Albertan seller opines at:-
http://cgi.ebay.com/Gordon-Lightfoot...QQcmdZViewItem
"This is a one-of-a-kind Original Concert Poster that was displayed at Mike's News Stand - who was the main ticket seller in
the City of Edmonton during the 1960's and 1970's. It appears to me that this poster was hand painted onto thick cardboard
style material. It is the same type of material that was used for all weather style signs in the 1960's. I am not sure of the
year of this Concert but it had to be early 1970's"
Had he gone to the Javascript day site at:-
http://www.kerrnow.notlong.com
he could have found that Tuesday November 19th was 2 days after Gord's birthday in 1963 or 1968 or 1974 but not 1979 or the leap year 1980. Take yer pick
For the second one the same seller at:-
http://cgi.ebay.com/Gordon-Lightfoot...QQcmdZViewItem

has surmised the same provenance but showing the different dates October 8-10 (although which weekdays were unspecified).
And another for Jessi-Joe's interest at:-
http://cgi.ebay.com/Gordon-Lightfoot...QQcmdZViewItem

John Fowles
And Bru I am Still Waiting For You to make a proper response regarding your OCR competence (or otherwise)
