Hi I heard this song on internet radio - and the playlist said Gordon Lightfoot recorded this. Its either called The Wedding Song or There is Love - and it is so very lovely!

I might - be engaged soon - and this song would be wonderful to include in a wedding.

Yeah that's one that was almost always listed in places like Kazaa as being by Gord. The other one was the song "Brandy" which isn't his either.

That song is a marvel. Noel donated all of his royalties from the recording/writing of it.

I particularly appreciate it as the song works on all levels - as interpreted by the Bride & Groom - "secular" or "sacred"

The lyric is, nonetheless, drawn straight from Scripture and reflects Noel's wonderful, non-judgmental walk as a Christian.

Sorry,my post went before I was done. What I was going to say was Noel wrote that song for Peter Yarrow and his wife when they were getting married. Peter loved the song so much he encouraged Paul to make it available for all couples to have for their weddings. Paul did just that and made it so people would not have to worry about copywright infringements by making thr song, public domain. I was fortunate to meet and visit with Paul after two different concerts,one was with Peter,Paul & Mary,and the other was a christian show Paul did here in Indiana in th early eighties. Very nice and wonderful person. Randy

Yes, Randy, I'd spaced that part. The only other song that entered the "public domain" that I know of is God Bless America - Irving Berlin. It's my understanding that was his gift to America - just as The Wedding Song was Noel's to the world.

A find friend up in Jackson Hole, has a small, living, little church there. Noel comes once, sometimes twice a year, to sing for the flock (if 50 is a flock)

Personally I used a traditional Welsh melody rather than the wedding march for our processional out the church. You may recognize it as either "Sent Forth with God's Blessings" or "Let All Things Now Living" (same tune) and was used in Angharad's wedding scene in "How Green Was My Valley." It's joyful, but not unusual enough for my organist to say "huh??"

If your question is serious, to be excommunicated in the Catholic church is, in effect, to be kicked out. You are not allowed to participate in any official rites; especially, you can't take Holy Communion (hence the term).

No, the question was a little gag-let, as to why I haven't been asked back for a Spill the Wine Encore at that certain church.

Although, some yrs ago, when the daughter of the Vice-Pres of The Musician's Union in LA got married, he put me up to a little mischief.

I set up my DX-7 on the grass overlooking Coronal del Mar (w/ a very long extension cord,) punched the Cathedral Organ button, and used Purcell's Trumpet Voluntary for "Here Comes . . ." For "There goes . . ." I did, as instructed by Daddy of the Bride, and launched into a B-3 setting rendition of the old blues shuffle "All Right! OK! I'm in Love w/ You"

For a couple of white kids, they did a mighty boogie for the "There Goes . . ."

Annie - I'm familiar w/ that tune. Such a joy to play as well as hear - especially on a big ol' full-pipe organ.

Speaking of Communion, perhaps the closest time to my heart (and the Lord's) of celebrating was in the back of my van after sleeping all night after a Sat nite gig moving into Easter Sunday.

I had no cup. I had no wine. I did have my Bible. So, turning to the descriptive passages, I took Air Communion. Sort of like Spiritual Air Guitar, ya know. But blessed.

Anyhoo,Annie I'm sorry but I can't agree. I really like "Evergreen". I think it's a really moving song. Although,when I finally do get married...I'm playing,"My Love For You".

Agreed.

"Evergreen" is just one of those songs that is like nails on a blackboard for me, and I *like* Streisand, mostly. Diff'rent strokes etc.
