Shawn Brush needs a lift
What do Gordon Lightfoot, Def Leppard, The Tea Party, Willie P. Bennett, Jeff Healey, Rik Emmett, Daniel Lanois, Tom Wilson, Fred Eaglesmith and Gordie Tapp have in common?
Their autographs are all on a guitar being raffled to help raise funds to buy Burlington guitarist Shawn Brush (a.k.a. the Crooked Cowboy) a wheelchair accessible vehicle. Brush, one of the top bluegrass guitarists in the area, was born with a rare degenerative condition called Morquio syndrome, which affects the body's ability to develop and maintain bones and tissue. The acoustic Epiphone guitar will be raffled ($5 a ticket) at Brush's show Oct. 15 at Jersey's Bar & Grill (1450 Headon Forest Rd., Burlington, Ontario, Canada).
