First off, sorta sounds like a challenge for ZoneRanger doesn't it? :D
My topic is,what songs of Lightfoot's do youfind to bethe most inspirational? I mean, songs that evoke the essence or "life is good","it's going to be okay" ,kind of feelings/emotions?
I could simply say that my favoritrtes list says it all but that would be very lazy. The most poigniant ones for me,offhand are:Christian Island / Nous Vivons Ensemble / End Of All Time / Forgive Me Lord / The Pony Man / If Children Had Wings.
What are yours? I'll try to think of some at home. Been me. Later!

Seven Island Suite, Lazy Mornin', Song for a Winter's Night, Pussy Willows, Cat Tails, Minstrel of the Dawn, Beautiful, Cold on the Shoulder, Make Way for the Lady, Mister Rock of Ages, Restless. Not in any particular order, I just flicked through the albums and put down the ones that fit this description. Believe me, there are plenty of others of Gord's songs which I absolutely adore, but, these are my "inspirational" ones. Good topic, B, thanks!

In the catagory of "Life is Good" I would have to say I've always thought of Wherefore and Why, and Highway Songs as the two that make me feel that way.

Good idea for a thread, Borderstone.
Sheryl, I agree. Lazy morning is inspirational in that it focuses on appreciating the little, everyday things in life. Just something like relaxing at home in the morning with a cup of coffee is something we can easily take for granted. Sometimes when things go wrong, it's the little "normal" things that we end up missing the most.

For me - 'Christian Island' (no surprise there). This song always takes me away from any problems I may be having, leaving me to bask in a visual of warm sun, softly lapping water and gentle breezes kissing my skin, and
'Rainy Day People',reminds me that I am indeed fortunate in my circle of friends (you know who you are). Thanks, Gord, for the amazing music.

My wife and I found real comfort in Whisper My Name a time or two.

Wow!
Thanks for the great responses so far, all of you.
It's funny, whenever I start a topic,I always think,"I hope this doesn't come across as lame". Then you all surprise me by showing I made the right choice. (Not every time, but quite often. )
Anyhow, back with more of my own inspirational songs that truly touch me and make things okay again, for awhile. I don't have time to give a reason for all but I'll do a few.
A Message To The Wind
All The Lovely Ladies
Beautiful (I think of past loves and the one's still to come.)
Bend In The Water
(Long before I named myself this): Borderstone
Carefree Highway
Changes - Helps me accept that I have to take life as it comes, whatever the changes may be.
Don Quixote (A reminder that it's okay to be me and that nobody's perfect).
Drifters
I'll Be Alright (Self explained)
I'll Tag Along (People that care will be there for each-other)
Inspiration Lady
Rainbow Trout (child-like innocence we all once had. Sometimes I still do.)
Restless
Romance
Seven Island Suite
Triangle
Wherefore & Why (No surprise there)
Your Love's Return (Never giving up on love, even after it's gone.)

Thanks for the compliment Anne. Don't worry about being late,I'd worry more if no one had replied at all!
*wah* Then my feelings would really be hurt.
Thank you & all for the compliments too.
