Last night I was re-reading a Gordon Lightfoot book that I've had for sometime now and I came across something quite interesting.

Gordon first played Massey Hall on March 31st,1967,which means that next March 31,2007 will mark his 40 anniversary of playing shows there!

I wonder,do you think he'll do a 40th anni. show on the very same date? Seems like a great idea.

If he goes by the 18 month break between Massey dates he won't be back there until May 2008...

It would be a nice commemorative concert to attend tho...

Yes Charlene, but this would be different. Some of his friends in the biz, should organized something like this.

Have them signing Lightfoot's greatest hits, and there are enough of those around. Gord would be like, sitting front row, with family members, and friends.

And at the end they would introduce him to the stage, where he could give thanks, to who ever he chooses.

Then do a few songs, to end it up. Bob Dylan might even show up for something like that.

And then to top it all, have the Corfidians come up on stage and sing him, Happy "40th", at Massey Hall. :D

And then you Charlene could play your mean, "AIR GEETAR.' :D

They did that, for Johnny Cash, but only after he had died.

I think the first time Gord actually sang at Massey, he was only 12. He told the story, on that Peter Gzowski interview.

I've heard menion that the Massey dates have been recorded in the recent past...It would be nice to have a live album from that. Sort of a Sunday Concert decades down the road. With small kids and a busy two career household it's unlikely I'll ever get to the Massey concerts.

I think there's an audio recording of pretty well all of the Massey shows...I do wish he'd done his video at Massey instead of Reno....

Have Gord put out a CD of him reciting the local phone directory. I for one would not hesitate in buying a copy.

In that same book I read,Gordon did record at Massey in '74 for a possible "live" LP (maybe double LP? ) but certain technical glitches made the recordings unusable.

Although,I think with today's incredible recording technology, they might be able to "extract" those flaws ?? I'd like to think so.

The show sounds like a great idea. I think any Corfid member willing and "able" :D ,should sing a GL song or 2 themselves!

I'd be more than happy to bust out with "End Of All Time" and "My Love For You".
