Does anyone else really like this song from ODR? I have no idea why, but throughout all the years since that song was written/song it has been one of my favourites. The picture it paints just seems to so fit the situation.
Anyone else?

I've always liked it too, it's a good song, but it's not one of my most favorites GL did. Gord must have liked it too, the way he included it on GG2. At the time, I was actually a little disappointed with its inclusion, I'd much rather have had Hi'Way Songs on there.

I always really liked that song. I first heard it when I bought GG2 and I have to admit - I played it all the time, constantly pressing the repeat button )
I still like it a lot and wish I could play it myself on guitar.

I agree too. I actually like the ODR album as a whole, quite a lot. I've considered it to be underrated! I guess it's one of the albums that doesn't seem to be talked about as much, for no apparent reason.

Claudia - is it a question of not knowing the chords?

Andy,
I have to admit that is one great song too - I love the line:
"And when I am back on my home sod,
it feels so good to be home, by God.
Anyone who has travelled a lot knows how that feels.

Hi musky_man,
yes it's basically the lack of the chord knowledge. And since I consider myself still pretty much as a beginner ( I'm playing for 1,5 years ) it's hard to figure it out by myself. So if you happen to have the chords and some other advice how to play that song - I would be happy!!!
Thanks a lot - Claudia

I also love It's Worth Believin', have since I first dropped needle on vinyl - something about the rhythm, just the sound of it, and Gord's in great voice on it too. I'm another who wore it out playing it over and over; fortunately I've got the GG2 as well.

I like it simply for it's easy-going style. That's about it!

I always thought it just "flowed" so well. The song really gives you a feeling that you're evesdropping in on a very tense relationship. I also think it's one of the best recordings of Gord's 12-string playing.

Rob1956,
I think you hit it when you said it "flowed so well" .... that is something I sensed but had not quite grasped at a conscious level ... thanks.

I also agree that ODR is way underrated. It's one of my favorites. Hi'way Songs rocks. I love the use of the bluegrass-type instruments throughout the cd. The whole thing just has a great feel about it.

My all time Favorite....
In my mind, the song, really paints a picture.
Only once did I see him peform it in concert...matter of fact, the first time I saw him.
...a soft "country" sound....

I love that song too. For the longest time, I thought he was saying *It's worthy livin*. It seemed to make sense at the time.

The next time I listen to that song I am going to try to listen for when it possibly sounds like "it's worthy livin'"...I've never noticed it before, but I might now, now that you mentioned it. :D

HI Musky,
I agree with you aboutthat song. It is one of my top ten all time favorites by Gord. It seems to just explode out of the speakers. (well at least it used to in the days when we actually listened on a real hi-fi) - Bill Hall

There was a movie many years ago (1971???) from MGM... "Ryan's Daughter" was the name...
"It's Worth Believn' could have been written for that movie, but I doubt it.
A nice sound....something special....

Hey, Wes, "Ryan's Daughter" was one of my favorite movies. Surprisingly, I saw it when I was much too young to do so! (great sex scenes, ha!) I haven't listened to "It's Worth Believin'" in a while, but, on first glance, I'm surprised you thought this song would go with that movie. I'll have to give it another listen and let you know what I think. (Have the movie on an old VHS tape...)

Sheryl,
Sea, shore, troubled marriage ("where she goes...I don't know?") ("do you like to go walking on the sand?), doubting one's self, beautiful Irish coast... doesn't "Believn'" have an Irish "sound" to it?
Maybe it's just me....

Yes, now that you've reminded me of those lyrics, absolutely. However, the song's tune is just a bit too light for that politically/romantically-charged movie. Great movie.

It's too bad it wasn't. Have there ever been any movies with Gord songs in them?

Sounds like I need to see "Ryan's Daughter." It sounds like a good movie.
I just listened to "It's Worth Believin'." I like the images of the troubled marriage, and the narrator's wry admission that the problem probably lies with him.
