There has been a movie out there, named "Neil Young: Heart of Gold," which I saw today. It's not a movie, really, it's the videography of a concert Neil and his band did, last August in Nashville, Tennessee.
Now, I've been listening to Neil's music for 40 years, but never have seen him in concert. This movie was just like going to a concert. The camera-men moved around the stage and zoomed in on all the band members quite often. They caught all of Neil's personal commentary between the songs. It was like seeing Gord's last concert in Reno, when I had a front-row seat.
The point here is, I wish Gordon Lightfoot would do a similar movie. You see, I think Neil Young did this movie because after his brain aneurism event, Neil saw his mortality. Same with Gordon, after his own abdominal aneurism.I'd love to see a movie of Gord doing a concert, with interviews of his band members, as this movie did.

I saw this movie about 4-5 weeks ago and was blown away. Had to run out and buy the cd/dvd. The dvd is not the same as the movie but interesting none-the-less, as it shows in studio recording of the cd.
It's my understanding that this concert was recorded 2-3 days before his aneurysm surgery.
Here is a link to a site that has all the cd tracks in full length. They can't be downloaded but they are there in their entirety to be enjoyed/sampled. http://www.neilyoung.com/prairiewind.html
Here's a link to the movie information. http://www.heartofgoldmovie.com/indexflash.html

Yes, he sang it and it was one of the most wonderful moments - that song is gorgeous.
Once Neil got word that he was having surgery he got busy with his music and the concert...he felt very mortal I'm sure and wanted to get as much done as he could....just in case.

Actually, the chances of surviving a brain aneurysm are very good if they catch it before it ruptures, and if it's in an area in the brain that's accessable. Now, if it had ruptured, I doubt Neil would still be with us. Thankfully, he is.

my sis in law was on the operating table for a surgery much like Neil's...she had two to be fixed and one blew while she was on the table! thankfully she was where she was because the doc said she'd never have survived it...she was about 22 - that was 16 years ago....

I had a doctor tell me the other day that I survived mine because I'm musically inclined. It seems we use both sides of our brain for many things, where as normal people use one side or the other. I don't know about his prognosis. I alway had the feeling I survived because I'm so ambidexterous.
