I have just spent some fruitless time trying to find the date and position that IYCRMM
featured in the UK top twenty charts in I suppose 1971
it was certainly in that year that then BBC Radio One disk jockey Noel Edmonds began playing IYCRMM
every day until it became (I thought) a largish UK
hit
But I found nothing.Maybe my old memory is going as on

Wayne only lists for IYCRMM
(Billboard #5)
and makes no mention of a UK position
Walter???
As always a google search brought up other interesting sites including this time a chance to revisit the review of Harmony on the BBC site which now has more responses than the last time I looked:-

"In 1971, Gordon Lightfoot became one of the first rock ’n’ roll artists asked to perform at the classical-only, Philharmonic Hall in New York. He would play two shows the following February, as his If You Could Read My Mind and Summer Side of Life albums raced up the charts."
another interesting search result reminded me of a lovely version of "The House You Live In"
by Kate Campbell on her CD "Wandering Strange "

there is a short 29 seconds clip

"Neil Young, of course, is the greatest American solo artist to ever come from Canada. Don't even try to get in my face with your Joni Mitchell or, God forbid, Gordon Lightfoot"
To which "DB said"
"I love you Mr. Sun, but you better take that back about Gordon Lightfoot. If you replace the word 'girl' in any of Mr. Lightfoot's songs with the word 'squirrel,' why, you will laugh so hard, and for so long, you'll get the hiccups.
There is precious little joy in the world, and so I beseech you, do not ride roughshod upon the Lightfoot. Thank you "
