I haven't posted to this list for a long time, but I'm sure some of you will remember me as the person who tried to make it to Toronto to one of Gordon's concerts, but never made it due to financial considerations. Several people on this list were very gracious and extremely helpful to me and I have not forgotten it. And, because I seem to live under a rock, and never seem to know what is happening outside my backyard, I wasn't even aware he was coming to Vermont until John Fowles emailed me! Thank you John once again!
Saturday night I saw Gordon Lightfoot for the first time in concert...I'm still almost speechless. I had a great seat in the 4th row with no obstructions, so I was very close to him on stage, and I was mesmerized. I can't even tell you much about what he sang, except he was great! He was incredible! It appeared to me that much of the audience was in a similar state of awe like me. It's an experience I will never forget.
I'm sure John will write his commentary of the evening to fill in my many blanks. It was a thrill for me to meet John since he's such a gracious man and full of information regarding Gordon. I got to talk with him extensively at dinner. Also it was wonderful to meet Susan, Skip, Jenny and Joan. (Hope I have everyone's name correctly).
I will never forget this concert. It proves one thing to me and that is....I love Gordon Lightfoot and his remarkable music, always have and always will!

Hi Betty, Glad to hear you had a wonderful evening, and that Gord was at his best. He continues to amaze us all. He's a poet Genius. First time posting to you Betty. Hope not the last.
Get out from under that rock, and join in the Lightfoot band wagon...Jesse.

You almost got the names correct Betty but Jenney has an unusual spelling to pay homage to her family name

from
http://www.houseofnames.com/
see the old topic at:-
http://www.corfid.com/ubb/ultimatebb...=001016#000000
Her husband is Skip Rivard hence his nickname of "Skipper Vard"
whatever I am so pleased that I took the trouble to alert Betty and, though the planned pre concert meet up with another Burlington fan failed to happen, it was quite wonderful to see the joy in Betty's face

OK OK This will not be much of a report, but rather a simple setlist
I must start at the begining though for having met up with Jenney and Skip at the hotel we set off for downtown and quickly found the venue
I had tried to arrange a group pre-concert dinner. but the Burlington solicitor I had become acquainted with through his Peter Paul and Mary google group had had to bow out, we did however meet another Burlington area fan Betty (who had failed to get to Hamilton in 2004 and Massey in 2005 and had never seen Gord live.(and only saw him at this concert because I remembered her posting on corfid and emailed her)
we met at a fine restaurant diagonally opposite to the venue
The Flynn Theater
1 Cotton Jenny
2 Carefree Highway
3 Sea Of Tranquility
4 Never Too Close
5 14 Karat Gold
6 In my fashion
7 A Painter Passing Though
Medley
8 Spanish Moss
9 Shadows
10 Blackberry Wine
11 The Watchman's Gone
Medley
12 Ribbon Of Darkness
a long pause into
13 Shadows
14 The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald
intermission
15 The Pony Man
16 Waiting For You
17 Clouds Of Loneliness.
18 Let It Ride (complete and magnificent)
19 Beautiful
21 If You Could Read My Mind
22 Don Quixote
23 Make Way For The Lady
24 Canadian Railroad Trilogy
25 Baby Step Back
26 Restless
27 Old Dan's Records
encore
28 Early Morning Rain

Betty,
I am so glad you finally got to a concert. The first time is amazing, isn't it? With around 20 or so under my belt and my advancing age , they are starting to blur together, but I remember my first one in 1977 like it was yesterday. Hope you can make another one soon.
