Fed up with the default msn.com I have for some time had my browser set to open showing show the google news page UK edition:-
http://news.google.com/news/en/uk/main.html
which has a useful search box covering both the "search the web" and "search news" the latter lets you "Search and browse 4,500 news sources updated continuously"
for the first time I entered GL in a news search and obtained the link to the Miami Herald article:-
http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald...8447929.htm?1c
together with the report on the Inspiration Lady video at:-
http://www.canada.com/entertainment/...a-4f792349870c
also an entertaining discourse from the Edmonton Journal that not only states regarding the
"Play Canadian" act
"This is why Gordon Lightfoot's 23-hour epic, Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, is so well-known by radio listeners from coast to coast.
This sufficed for awhile. Lightfoot became fabulously wealthy, and the Canadian music industry moved in with him for several years and drank American beer.
But then technology reared its ugly head. Canadians discovered tape players. This, in itself, wasn't so bad. They could go to a music store and buy Gordon Lightfoot's Greatest Hit and listen to it over and over again without commercial interruption."
but has other gems like
"Whenever the Americans hauled out Britney Spears, we could point at Shania Twain, who is a much better talent because she spends more time singing and less time getting married."
you can enrole in a stystem called "google news alerts" that e-mails you when a new report appears on your selected interest
So that is how the astute Annie from Auburn gets her scoops: rumbled you at last Annie!!
Also among the 59 search results were numerous reports of the new Jim croce album on which appears Steel Rail Blues
