Hello, I'm a big fan of David Mallett, and I've heard others say that he sounds like Gordon. My mother even said this when I put one of Dave's cd's in the player, and I just don't hear the similarity. I asked my mother to explain why she thought that, and she said Dave's timing and delivery, but still I don't see it. I gave someone at work some of Dave's music, and he being a generation older than me, said that Dave sounds like Waylon Jennings, which I would agree with. Can those David Mallett fans on this board explain their reasoning behind this often-made comment? By the way, if you want to join a discussion group for Dave's music, go to YahooGroups.com and search for his name. Two L's and two T's.
Thanks a lot.
Matthew

Hi Matthew. I already sent a reply through the Dave Mallett chat group, but figured I'd post here too so you wouldn't appear unanswered.
I can still hear the similarities to some extent now, but when I first heard Dave I heard it far more. I usually tell people if you like Gordon Lightfoot, you'll like Dave Mallett. Similar voices, same style of quality lyrics to me are the biggest similarities.
