He finally lost his long battle yesterday (Sunday). Here's a write-up from CNN:

There's a longer piece as MSNBC news:

I saw his new CD in the store last week and wondered if he was still alive. I saw a thing on TV about him producing that CD.

Thanks Annie. I saw that on Yahoo this morning when I booted up. That was a kick in the gut. I have always loved his point of view. He was such an original songwriter. When I first "discovered" him, I went out and bought everything I could and listened for months. I haven't picked up the last one yet. I'm gonna have to get that on the web somewhere. It's just such a loss of such an original voice.

My brother and I had the good fortune to see Warren Zevon at a Scottsdale club called,"The Rockin' Horse" 7 years ago in Januray. Even though he's better known to the masses for his 1 hit wonder,"Werewolves Of London",he put on a show that was a lot different than that hit might make you think he's like. We stayed for almost the entire show, but we left about 25 mins. or so before the end. My brother had to be at work the next day (darn it!) A footnote to this is,only a couple of months after that show, the place burned to the ground. I now wonder if that meant anything in the grand scheme of things? I had hoped to buy his hit song before he passed on but money's been tight. The sad part is,the mass public never really got to know him, myself included. RIP Mr. Zevon .
