Nice anecdote Steve
I guess you must have thought that you were in your cups the day those priceless plates were presented to you
Do you still have them??
Are they on a car or in your den??
there are no less than 505 google image results for "34D cups"
some of them quite tasty!
I dare not attempt to display one here though (it might not show anyway)
there are even a few linking to ebay auctions
wonderxxx??
Funny that you mentioned an unfortunate fellow named "Hooker.
I have been reading a fine book telling all about the Concorde that that delightful CHarlady gave me inToronto.
and it refers to the genius of a (just like me) one time Rolls Royce employee and Imperial College London student
named Sir Stanley Hooker
who helped win the war by improving the performance of the Spitfire's Merlin engine supercharger indeed
"The mathematics involved in optimising the efficiency of a supercharger, which Hooker developed, were the basis of the mathematics needed to make a gas turbine run efficiently. All jet engines, except for turbineless ones such as ram-jets, are based upon the equations used to develop the Merlin."
That would include of course the Concorde's Olympus engine which Sir Stanley eventually worked on
arguably the two most beautiful aircraft ever built flying together
(Note both Made In England)
Amazing the picture display works this time too!!
