Hi,
I wish to send best greeting to all members and visitors of the Discussion Board,
I am currently attending a conference in Orlando/Florida, which is not the worst place to stay
During this week, Florida has been more a home for "Rainy Day People", because it has been raining quite viciously in the Miami area. However, up here in Orlando it's humid and hot at the same time... hat's off to the inventor of the aircondition.
Fortunately, the hotel I am staying at does provide internet access through their business center, so I can somewhat catch up on the postings.
However, I cannot remotely access my email box, so all emails sent to me will not be answered before next week.
I wish you a great time wherever you are right now (I am sure enjoying my time here in Florida) and will be back at my home computer next week on Tuesday.
-Florian

Hi Tom,
I will be driving from Orlando to Miami on Monday, my plane for Vienna leaves in the afternoon from Miami.
As far as the Space Shuttle start is concerned, I do hold three tickets for that.
The start was scheduled for last Wednesday, has been postponed for Thursday and then postponed again for Monday evening.
However, as my plane is leaving in Miami on Monday afternoon, I will not be able to attend it.
According to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Centre, all tickets are sold out, so it will not be possible to buy them at location.
What I would like to do is to pass my tickets on to you if you like. I could deposit them in an envelope adressed to you and leave them at the reception of my hotel on Orlando.
As I cannot check my email box online, please post your reply here if you'd like to use my tickets to watch the start.

Florian, I would love to get the free Shuttle launch tickets(& parking pass)! I found out that it was SOLD OUT & I was planning to watch from Titusville Beach. But I'd rather be as close as I can get(i.e. 6 miles away)!
Please leave me the information as to what hotel you are staying. Put them under the name "Tom Knack". I will be able to pick them up by noon.
Thank-you Thank-you Thank-you!! I am a big NASA fan too! This is the 100th Space Shuttle Mission.

Hi Tom,
I am really happy I can pass the tickets onto you.
I will leave them at the reception in an envelope addressed to you. I am staying at the Double Tree Resort and Conference Center in Kissimmee, Orlando.
If you go down I-4 west (to Tampa) get off at the crossing with 192 and go west.
The DoubleTree hotel is located at the right side if you head 192 west.
Their exact address is:
3011 Maingate Lane
Kissimmee Florida 34747
Telephone number: (407) 396 - 1400
I really hope you enjoy the launch... (be sure to post a photo here if you can)...

Hi Char,
I am sorry that the folks at Western Union give you a hard time.
I will contact you via email as soon as I return home.
I am sorry about the inconvenience,

Florian:
I picked the Shuttle tickets up around 12:30pm. I got turned around & ended up at the OTHER DoubleTree Hotel on 192. Nice place! The bad news is they delayed the launch AGAIN!! It was really windy today in Florida, with gusts to 50mph. Hopefully, tommorrow night @ 7:40pm will work. Thanks again!
---------------------------------------------
Drat! Drat! & Double Drat!! Got all the way to the launch site & the mission was scrubed again! I hope three's a charm. I'm going to try again one last time before I return home. Tommorrow night @ 7:17pm (I hope)
Florida IS "the fountain of youth" as Ponce DeLeon once said! (sorry for the spelling, don't have my Encardia or Webster program with me-lol)

Sorry I haven't posted sooner...I got home safely, however, my computer crashed! I need a new hard-drive installed so I'll be off-line awhile(I'm at library now).
Anyway, I was able to see the Shuttle liftoff on 10-11-00 & it was spectacular!! Some of the comments heard around me..."Oh my God...Wow!" "Look at that!" "I had no idea it was that bright!" "Like a sunrise" "That's gorgeous!" "What a rush!" "It's unreal" . I had always thought it blasted off & went straight up. It actually made a "S" turn as it makes its orbital insertion. Like the Statue of Liberty, or the Grand Canyon, a Space Shuttle launch is a must-see!
P.S. Florian, I have a "limited edition" Discovery coin I would like to send you as a way of saying thanks. E-mail me with your P.O. Box & I'll send it when I'm on-line again.

Re: Greetings from Florida!
I almost replied to Florian until I saw that Silverheels which has not been here for a while had posted. It was only then that I saw the year 2000. Shame on you Patti for tricking me, and maybe others...

Re: Greetings from Florida!
Yeah, Wisconsin. I got off on that space shuttle launch talk. We don't get many space shuttle launches around here. Sounded like a good time.
