Has anyone heard of an update on Corfidian David (djb)? His surgery must be complete. Any news or prognosis from those who are most familiar with him?

Continue to remember him in your prayers!

Yuri

Apologies all, I intended to post this yesterday but work interrupted my good intentions. Thanks Yuri for the nudge. Mia sent the following:

<<Today I was finally allowed to see David at the hospital. He looked
absolutely horrible with tubings, cables and bandages all over him. He
told me it's not worth it, he would rather have kept the tumour, but I
hope he wasn't serious. He doesn't have much pain now as long as he is
totally still. He definitely feels better today, and the nurses had
helped him shave and he had brushed his teeth. I didn't stay long as he
soon got very tired.

They have removed the sensors they had put in his head during the
operation, as the risk of a bleeding is now very small. They had told
him he will probably be moved to the ordinary neuro surgery ward tomorrow.

I am relieved he is getting better, but at the same time I feel very
sorry for him as he is really suffering. He told me that now he
understands why everyone was so worried about the operation. He had
never realized it could be this bad. Maybe that was in a way good, as at
least he was calm and optimistic before the operation.

Hopefully he will recover quickly now. >>

Keep the prayers going and the candles burning.

This just came in from Mia. Things are starting to improve.

<<This will just be a short note as I am very tired. I did visit David
again this afternoon. He was moved from the intensive care to the ward
today, and even though the moving of his bed made him start vomiting
again, he still feels much better. I suppose his brain is still
complaining about the treatment it has been through the last few days.
David definitely looked a lot better now compared to yesterday, so I was
very relieved. Things start to look more promising.>>

It's good to hear that David is improving. Bru, do you happen to have a snail-mail address where we can send cards, and good wishes? I can understand that they might not want their home address given out to just anyone, but maybe the hospital address and his room number - I imagine he will be there for a bit longer.

Thanks for the updates, Bru

J, I do have their snail mail but let me check with Mia. She may prefer we send mail to the hospital. I'll get back to you on that as soon as she responds. She was exhausted and heading for bed.

Thanks so much for the update.

During my ordeal I was just about totally "out of it" for about five weeks. This was probably a blessing as I too was a pin cushion of sensors, gastric nasal tubes, drainage tubes and I.V.s.

My worst experience was with Morphine!! I had such continuous vivid halucinations of the most horrid topics that I just cannot understand anyone using this drug, or one of it's derivatives, for recreational purposes! (If I want to get "high" I put on some Lightfoot music.) The morphine experience was so horrific that I still cannot separate what was reality from what were just 'fireworks' going off in the brain!

Please let David know that we are all thinking of him. Some address would be nice as I know how much Corfidians help my recovery.

Kindest regards,

Yuri

It's good news that David is improving so quickly after surgery!

Yuri, like you, I was totally out of it for a month after the ruptured aneurysm, and that's definitely a blessing. I had surgery that went on for 7.5 hours, where they cut along my hairline, folded the skin back to my crown in one direction, and to my eyebrows in the other, took out a 2 inch square of my skull, then put it all back together after they clipped off the aneurysm. I don't remember a bit of it, and only a few short seconds of doctors and nurses asking me questions and moving me around. It was probably near the end of the month's stay.

I can't even begin to imagine how much pain I must have been in... which is a good thing!

I had halucinations, too. I walked through a field of wildflowers with my uncle and dead grandfather, went to lunch with a 40-ish Johnny Cash, who had just happened to wander into my room, and saw my dead father sitting right next to my bed many nights, keeping watch over me.

Latest from Mia, just in:

<<Hello,

Things are going in the right direction. When I did visit David today,
he could sit up for a few minutes. He is still suffering from the
nausea, but has managed to eat some. The doctor told him the nause is
due to the operation itself. She had to be pretty rough with the brain
stem, and that is what's causing the nausea.

David is in a much better mood now. He has started to get some of his
optimism back.

Now I will print some of your emails. I don't know if he will be well
enough tomorrow to read them, but then he can keep them with him till he
has enough energy and concentration to read.>>

Latest bulletin received from Mia:

David phoned a moment ago. He has talked the doctor into releasing him
from the hospital, so I will go there after work and pick him up. I have
not visited him the last two days. As he has been able to talk on the
phone, he thinks it's a waste of petrol money for me to go and see him.
(Typical him.) We have a 40 minutes drive to the hospital. David has
only been able to talk for a few minutes and then he is fading, and even
during that short time he has moments when he can't speak. I am a bit
upset that he is coming home when he is still so ill, but hopefully the
doctor knows what she is doing. And maybe I will feel better about it
when I see him. Right now I am very concerned about him not managing at
home. I am worried that I will not be able to look after him properly.

But hopefully everything is going to go well. And it will be wonderful
to have him home again.

I suppose this is my last emial to you. David will have his computer at
home, and I think he will write to you very soon.

Take care everyone, and thank you very much for your support.
