I agree with Joveski's opinion of Tony Abbott. Melbourne radio station 3AW's breakfast hosts asked a US media expert if the population of the US were aware Australia's Prime Minister had visited Barack Obama. He said those who were aware were only aware because a TV comedy show screened a 4-minute video of some of Abbott's worst gaffes.

In the last 24 hours, Tony Abbott wished good luck to "Mike", Australia's captain in the Soccer World Cup, the world's biggest sporting event outside the Olympics. The captain's name is actually Mile (pronounced Millay) Jedinak.

And when he was presented with a ten-gallon hat in Texas, he responded with "Yee-HOW!" As he had decided this joke was appropriate, I suggest he could at least have used the correct expression ("Yee-HA!" or "Yee-HAW!")

I've just remembered another Abbott embarrassment from a few years before his party won government. He was asked in an interview if he had ever met Australia's Archbishop, George Pell. Abbott lied that he had never met him. A few minutes later, he realised that the truth was going to come out and he admitted that he had met the Archbishop. The following week, The Chaser comedy team got priceless footage of one of the team dressed up as an Archbishop, stalking Abbott at a public gathering and calling out to him "Do you see me? Do you see me?"
