I agree with most of you , the voice is simply not the same on Painter passing and Harmony. It doesn't boom, bite and call to you like his seventies voice.BUT..the new voice with the pained rasp.( Or a chain smokers gasp.)And of course the audible pained gag that slips in sometimes as if he has been punched in the guts by a large lady who is trying to eject his heart through his mouth , seems to have a new appeal all of its own . The new songs on Harmony are all very good and have the old haunting Lightfoot touch which no other artist can even touch or emulate..
