What I meant was that there could be something left in there but the only way to find out is to enter and take a look around. In other words, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Here is why I admire Gord - he is a true artist, with the marriage of meaningful poetry with unsurpassed music! He is a painter of words, allowing me the same pleasure of listening to his music, just like I would admire a Picasso, or Rembrandt. Am I placing him in this category? Absolutely! He has become like a fine wine, maturing with age and getting better all the time!

I couldn't put it any better in this post if I tried Sean.

I will add that after being a devotee of Neil Diamond from '78 to about 1992,I can honestly say that Gordon has it over him in so many ways.
Gordon never changed his singer songwriter style in favor of 1970's style hitmaking (in other words, giving up one's true performing identity.)Neil went from S/Song. to AC act, kinda dull then.

GL didn't go "Vegas" like Neil did when he started wearing sequined shirts on stage (yuk!). Gordon also made a better movie!

So I ask myself now,"why didn't I see this sooner?" The answer:I thought acts with only a handful of hits couldn't have much else that was good. Pretty dumb way to think, glad I turned my mind around on that one.

IMHO - #1. He's the best songwriter ever. #2. He's pretty traditional & straight-laced. #3. He can be a real sweetheart. He's a rough, tough cream puff. #4. Although he seldom reads fan letters he's read mine & has spoken to me about them. #5 He's always fair and noble to the core. #6. He loves cats.

I love his melodies, guitar playing, am fascinated with how he finds the rhymes for his songs. Many songs have very meaningful lyrics, poetic, etc. In person, he is a total gentleman, very appreciative of his fans.

Simple.
His music will last, as it is complex and meaningful.

For me, it is how he has become very laid back in his later years. He doesn't take himself too seriously. As I've stated in another post, my wife and I have met him 22 times since 1999, 8 or 9 times with all 3 of our kids. I have many handshakes and my wife has many kisses on the cheek she has given Gord over the years (probably 22!!!) to prove it.

He has always been very patient with our kids, especially when they were younger. I honestly think he loves seeing younger generations appreciating his legacy. Not sure that would have happened 40 years.

As Gordon has said in interviews lately, he is trying to 'redeem the time' he has left. I'm really just writing about Gord's life attitude, not about the music.
