Default POLL: Set list selections that are most Gord-friendly

From the current tour typical set list offerings, please pick 5 tunes that showcase Gords current vocal

I mainly find it hard to hear Gord when he has to sing over the 12 string strumming, wall of sound type tunes ...that is why the 6 string classics such as Ponyman, Minstrel, Young Stranger, etc, etc are always locked in my memory when I am lucky enough to hear these make their way into a live this past decade...the picking allows the song to breath more and lets GLs voice be heard. imo

i also wonder if there are songs in a common key which GL seems to find more friendly these days

here are my selections

14 Karat Gold
Shadows
Fine as Fine Can Be
Restless
If Children Had Wings

bonus: pick a few more that you think should be added, and that suit his current voice as well are realistic possibilities taking band arrangement into consideration...for eg) i would rule out 7 Island Suite on this basis

my picks:

Much to My Surprise
Drink Your Glasses Empty
Only Love Wold Know
Always on the Bright Side
Sometimes I Wish

yeah, jessie, DSMMN does have his subtle voice still actually hovering above the strumming, good one

guys, Minstrel and On the High TV have been included in the set list of recent tours...the latter was a real career GL live highlight for me...and when he included Minstrel (not to mention Spanish Moss) in his first few numbers of the Hamilton 68 comeback special (ok, maybe it was 05) I was in absolute GL Heaven...this is also where I heard River of Light and Harmony live for first time...Heffs live sampled accordian feel was superb

ok, i am ramblin...keep the dream alive, and the thread afloat

LOL, so in summary:

HFTF is now an every-nighter

and RL is a never-ever-nighter, lol

ok, that triggered an anecdote...was in a band that had an agent once, yes, the short type, annoying too, rubin kincaid-ish for sure

anyhow, yes, he got some decent club gigs but more than support us, he actually would sit us down at the end of each exhausting set, and list off for us the tunes that he never wanted to see included again in our setlists

we had started out with about 45 tunes when we first met him...and within a month we had a 10 song setlist, lol

anyhow, the band survived longer than the agent did

ok, back to regularly scheduled programming

It seems like most of the songs from Shadows suit his voice right now. 14K Gold always sounds good and so does In My Fashion. I'd really like to hear She's Not the Same but probably won't. I'll be VERY happy if I hear HFTF this summer. Gord play If Children Had Wings (the new one in the rotation at the time) last summer at the Keswick, and it was great. I'd be thrilled to hear Sometimes I Wish, jj!

There's so many of them that I'd have a hard time trying to decide which ones to pick.
