My beloved Melbourne Football Club (the 2021 winner) started 2022 with 10 consecutive wins and started the finals in 2nd place, but lost to lower clubs Sydney and Brisbane in the first two weeks of the finals and finished 5th.
The pre-match entertainment was provided by Robbie Williams, who performed half-a-dozen songs (dressed from head to toe in hot pink) and did it better than several international and Australian stars in recent years.
