Why did Gord give them permission to do that
awful version of the song?
Was he trippin' when they asked?
I always wonder...can somebody or "Someone"
tell me the answer?Pweeze!

I'm not 100% sure how it works, but I always thought performers didn't need the songwriter's "blessing" to record a song, they just needed to pay the appropriate "fee" for copyrighted material. As I said, I could be very wrong and if I am, I know someone with more knowledge in this area will jump in and explain it to us.

Janice,
You are correct.
But if the owner of that copywritten material
does not want just anyone to redo a song,
then they have every right by law to not allow it to be on the air.
Gord has his own publishing company
"Early Mornin' Rain Music",that handles all of that. They have to approve before anything is released.

Ahem ahem gentlemen
iron opined
"I think Robby is missing some hardware."
no doubt taking his clue from Al's
"dry your eyes, Robby boy."
But have we established yet that the baseball fan Robby is a Robert and not a Robin??

Hi Robby,
You are talking about Bob Dylan, I like him. Saw him in concert afew years back, Didn't say a word to the audience. Just sang hits after hits, no thank - you's even once. At the beginning of the show they shouted into the mike:"HELLO HALIFAX", ladies & gentlemen "BOB DYLAN", it was fine, only problem was they were in Moncton, NB. never the less a great show, someone could have thrown a hand grenade, on stage and I seriously dont think he would have moved, COOL as can be thats Bob Dylan.

You know, Jessi Joe (hey, that rhymes!), it might be easier to just post a new topic about your name changes. At least you wouldn't have to worry about answering each message. It would be right out there for everyone to see.

Congrats on the new name.
