An Air Canada Jazz regional jet whose rear landing gear collapsed after landing at Pearson International in Toronto from Moncton, sits on a taxiway yesterday. All aboard safe as jetliner's landing gear collapses on touchdown

No one was hurt yesterday when the main landing gear of an Air Canada Jazz airliner collapsed after it landed at Toronto's Pearson airport from Moncton, an airline official said.

Spokeswoman Manon Stuart said that after the CRJ-100 regional jet aircraft landed, the main landing gear buckled while the plane was moving from the active runway onto a taxiway.

The 37 passengers and three crew members aboard Flight AC8911 were not injured, Stuart said.

Lorrie McKee, a spokeswoman for the Greater Toronto Airports Authority, said the passengers had been taken off the aircraft and processed by the Peel Regional police.

"They have now been taken over to Terminal 1 and I believe they're now just awaiting their luggage," said McKee.

Both the runway and the taxiway will remain closed until the Transport Safety Board has completed the investigation of the incident, said McKee.

She said the airport was using its north-south runways for departing and arriving aircrafts and the incident had not caused any delays.

Stuart said all the passengers and crew had undergone medical examination at the airport.

This is the first time an incident like this has occurred involving this aircraft, a 50-seat Canadian regional jet, Stuart said.

Air Canada Jazz is a subsidiary of Air Canada Enterprise Aviation Holdings Inc., the parent holding company of Air Canada.

Most likely rather un-nerving to the passengers.
Eh?? It's always nice if all components of your plane stay intact.
