The Gordon Lightfoot Tribute Band
Last night in the quaint little town of Port Perry, Ontario, the Gordon Lightfoot Tribute Band, with John Stinson at the helm performed a well put together concert performance.
The show was held in the Port Perry Town Hall, built in 1873, which is now the Centre For The Performing Arts.
Being an older well maintained building it has plenty of character and the acoustics are very good.
John's Gord sounding voice was complimented by Eric Kidd on lead guitar, Jimmy Jones on keyboards and Gord's nephew, Steve Eyers on bass. John played six and twelve string guitars, similar to the ones Gord uses. Both John and Eric were students of Red Shea, Gord's former lead guitar player.
The two set concert attracted a huge crowd that gave thunderous applause to the guys after each song and, in the end, brought them back on stage with a standing ovation. They treated their audience with two songs to finish off the evening, a classic version of "Beautiful," and the audience sharing, "Alberta Bound." The place was hoppin'.
After the show the guys were there to meet and greet and chat with their patrons. Coffee, cup cakes, cookies were available. No charge, but a complimentary donation was accepted. Very nice small town Ontario hospitality. A most lively and lovely evening it was for all.
