Gordon Lightfoot…
Just when I thought things couldn’t get any better. I got a call the other day from none other than Gordon Lightfoot and his publisher. It was the most amazing highlight in my career to date. I sent Gordon off our new cd, we did a cover of Sundown and wanted him to hear it. Not only did he listen to it but he also listened to the whole cd and really liked it. He loved our version of Sundown and wanted to tell us that it was a great job and to keep up the good work. To have an icon like Gordon Lightfoot take the time out of his day to contact us is amazing onto itself. Just knowing that he has our cd in his hands and enjoys what we are doing, is off the wall. When we 1st were in the studio, we had originally recorded the walls of the song, like the original. After listening to it, I said to Kirk (our co producer), it’s not working for me at all and we had thought about not finishing the recording. He said, if you’re going to do a cover, make it your own, and he went and grabbed his hot rods and said, here, why don’t you think about a rhythm like this He started doing this funky beat and I thought, yah, that’s really cool. So went home and started working on a new direction. I thought, hmmm, minor key would be cool, then started working on the arrangement and came up with something that was pretty darn cool.

Went back to see Kirk the next day and played it for him and he said, that’s it, lets get in there and record it. Thus Sundown was born or reborn and we are sending it out as our single to radio!! So if you hear it on a station, please let us know and if you like what you hear, please download it or pick up the cd

As always peace and love

Cherelle

Yes the "snippet" sounded pretty good and a nice change in its own way from the original, that might well be heretical but sundown has never been very far up on my personal list of GL favourites. The girls are too modest they omitted to add that their producer (Kirk) was a film star of some repute who is coincidentally the father of another film star who Gord failed to get to accept a fine ditty called Sit Down Young Stranger for his first ever film

He is a member of their band.

Darn. I thought it was pretty neat that a 90 year-old could come up with a funky rhythm.
