Default Does anyone know what this song might be??

It's an older song that plays on the channel "Todays Hits and Yesterdays Favorites". It's a bit lengthy (At Least 4 minutes or longer), and it MAY be a Christmas song. (The last time I heard it was in December).
At first it doesn't sound much like Chistmas, but later on in the song they start playing these bell-like instruments along with the tune (They're not really bells ringing, but just musical instruments that sound kind of like bells).
At the end, it sounds like they're saying "Christmas Time Is Here Now", and something else, then "goes round and round", then it repeats, and just loops over and over again until the song fades off. Now, it MAY NOT be about Christmas at all, but that's what it sounds like. If you have ANY ideas at all of the name of this song, I'd be very thankful.

(Note: THE TUNE SOUNDS A LOT LIKE WESLEY CHENEY'S SHE'S A BIG STAR .)

Could you be talking about the 1984 song,"Do They know It's Christmas?" - by the one time all-star British chourus 'Band-Aid'?

Those closing lyrics (if this is the song) are,"Feed the w-o-o-r-rld,let them know it's Christmas time!" over & over.

Was I right?

Borderstone, if we ever meet, remind me to give you $20. I searched all over yahoo asking, and all over youtube, but couldn't find any answers, but then I asked here and got it on the firs t time.

I'd heard the ending on the radio one day, and I don't know why, but the tune just stuck in my head, and I HAD to find out the name of the song so I could download it. :D

Your welcome S.U.& D.I.L. Like most songs from the 70s & 80's,I still have that very 45 w/picture sleeve in my collection. In fact I've had it going on 23 years now.

Your clue sounded similar,so I just went with what I felt was the closest guess.

$20?! Right on!@ya!
Now I can take Mariah Carey out to dinner here in Phoenix! LOL!!!

Was it the clue about "Sounding like the song 'She's A Big Star'" that helped? I didn't include that when I asked at yahoo questions.

Yes, I was sure that was how someone else might recognize it, but I had a time trying to find out the name of the song. Turns out it's pretty popular.

The song was a #13 hit here in the states in late Dec. '84/ Early Jan. 1985.

I "think" it was #1 in Britain but only John F. would know that for sure.
The group featured then popular Brit. acts like Wham!(aka george Michael),Culture Club,Paul Young,Tears For Fears,Duran Duran and many more of the early 80s "new wave" scene.

It was of course the inspriration for Lionel Richie & Michael Jackson to write "We Are The World" by USA for Africa
and "Tears are Not Enough" by Northern Lights w/Gordon Lightfoot.

Just leafin' through some old posts and sought out this one, after reading once
again aboutthe deer "Deal" had accidently come into contact with back then.

Still quite an amazing thing that "Deal" couldn't find the song after looking in many places on the net. Then comes here and gets it right away, thanks to my knack for top 40 knowledge.

6 years almost,wow.

Yes and I'm still grateful. It's hard to look up a song when you don't knows ANY of the lyrics. :D

Pardon my very delayed response.

You know DEAL, I had a heck of a time with a song sometime ago.

I'm sure you recall the "Taxi" episode where
cabbie Alex Reiger ends up dancing with guys in a gay bar? LOL!

The 1980 song he & they dance too is
called "Do The Boogaloo" and is by a European duo called "Quango & Sparky".

(I thought it was Donna Summer then).

Well, long before the net,I had wonderd if it was a real song icoujld actually
own. ...trouble was,the name of the song & act was not in the closing credits at all!

When the internet finally came around and I got on in 1997,I knew I had to find it someday. Well, thanks to You Tube,I found out the song & act in 2005 but still couldn't locate the song to have it.

Well in 2011 the site known as Discogs , had many copies of their rare album
and I finally got a price I could work with. $17 (plus shipping from).....GREECE!!!

Happy to say,I now have had it nearly 2 years. Funky little song!

Without the internet, who knows if I "ever" could have located it?

You know, this thread is very hard to find.

It's not in the list of 2007 posts on the site here.

So I had to do many searches but I found by googling - www.cofid.com - band aid 1985.

Even searching with the threads title didn't. Thought it was gone for good. I like reading it.

Bye for now all.

Glad to see you're still up to your old tricks B - keeping things real. Searching all over the internet is never as easy as it looks on those crime shows on TV.

Hope all is well.

Hi Char. Well thank you but it was
S. Up And Deal I.L. who originated the thread, so I couldn't change the title myself.

I guess if you change the title the best one would be "Band-Aid & Christmas" .

Hope all is well with you and everyone else out there.
Looking forward to fall coming on the 22nd, that's for sure.

Phoenix has been horibly humind for 1/2 of the summer.

Anyhoo, talk to you all soon. Bye for now.
