Re: The first time I ever heard Gordon Lightfoot

I was dating a girl from Santa Ana, CA named Jeannie Merrit. We were at her house and she had "Did She Mention My Name" album on her stereo. It was the first time I had heard of Lightfoot or heard...

Sing "Apology"

On the Sunday Concert album there is a song titled "Apology." I've not seen it on any of the studio albums I have or any of the bootleg albums I have. I love the song.

Does anyone know the story...

What If...?

What if Red Shea had continued for many more years as GL's lead guitar player? Do you think there would have been much, if any, change in the songs he would write?

Did Terry's guitar playing...

Words to a GL story

I have a cd (I think it's the Red Rocks show) where Gordon tells a story about some Chinese folks. It's a bit racy. I'm wondering if any of you know the words and can post them. One of the lines goes...

Re: GIBSONS on album covers

If you're not ready to spend the money on a Martin or a Taylor, look at Takamine or Alvarez. They are both good quality instruments. I would choose Takamine over Alvarez. Many professionals are using...

Snow Blind Friend

I seem to recall hearing GL do Hoyt Axton's song "Snow Blind Friend" in concert a long time ago. Do any of the rest of you remember any such thing?

Re: Just a thought about Carter doing Miquel

How ironic on the youtube clip of this song that the only guitar work they feature is some of Rick's bass playing while Red Shea is doing such fabulous intricate work on lead guitar!

Re: Canadian Music-Lightfoot-50 years

It never ceases to amaze me how Red Shea plays those unbelievable licks and yet never looks at his guitar when he's playing.

Guitar Changes

When I first saw GL over 40 years ago, he was playing a Martin D-35. In the 1972 BBC concert, he's playing a D-28. Now, when he plays a 6 string, it's a pretty worn D-18.

Anyone have any idea...

Re: JJW Jerry Jeff Walker

Re: Favorite Terry Clements licks?

I have to put my vote in for these:

1. The downward progression from the Em chord in IFCRMM

2. The horse galloping in Don Quixote

3. The great licks in MOTD throughout the song.

4. Those...
