Default Viking Hall - Bristol, Tennessee

SET LIST:

(1) Sweet Guinevere
(2) Cotton Jenny
(3) 14 Karat Gold
(4) Never Too Close
(5) In My Fashion
(6) A Painter Passing Through
(7) Christian Island
(8) Shadows
(9) Beautiful (followed by band introductions)
(10) Carefree Highway
(11) Hang Dog Hotel Room
(12) Ribbon of Darkness
(13) Sundown ("This is our 65th show this year!")
(14) The Watchman's Gone
(15) Alberta Bound

INTERMISSION

(1) The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald
(2) Ringneck Loon
(3) Don Quixote
(4) Home from the Forest
(5) Let It Ride
(6) If Children Had Wings ("...involves my first ex-old lady!")
(7) Restless
(8) If You Could Read My Mind (followed by a lengthy standing ovation)
(9) Baby Step Back

At this point, someone in the audience shouted a request for Canadian Railroad Trilogy. Gord seemed a bit perplexed, and even turned to the band to playfully ask what they should do. Finally he said "I'm gonna take a flyer on it!" He pulled it off. And it was thrilling... the highlight of a highlight-filled evening.

(10) Canadian Railroad Trilogy

ENCORE:
Blackberry Wine

The audience was respectful, attentive, engaged, enthusiastic, and highly appreciative. The same could be said of Gord and the band. The rapport between audience and musicians was electric.

More than with any of the other Lightfoot concerts we've attended, this one had an unusually intimate feeling to it, as if Gord had invited us all into his living room. It was a most memorable evening.

We were there too and I agree. He talked more, smiled and laughed more than I had seen in the past. We got to meet him again after the show and got autographs from him and all the band members. Great night, great show!

I don't know if I did this right but I've tried to attach a few vids from the Bristol show. These were taken from my still camera. I wasn't sure what kind of quality they would be so they are not full length vids. They are a little grainy but ok. Hope you enjoy.

Gene, that was my sister Kellie that yelled the request. The guys in the band told us later in the night that it was not on the set list. The next song was suppose to be Early Morning Rain. Gord told us that his voice was "right" tonight so he decided to do it. Every member of the band told us it was not on the list for this show.

Great stuff! Terrific pictures too! I imagine they were all glad to head home after such a long tour. It's exhausting just thinking about it. They are real troopers..
Early Morning Rain is the sub for either The Wreck or CRT if he dosn't plan on doing both. I'm glad you got to hear CRT and he did it so well. Some nights he struggles thru parts.
The second half seems short - 10 songs only then 1 encore..
I find it amazing that so many fans can get pics without camera police jumping all over them. I can't recall a place where I've seen him and it's been allowed. Especially in the front or first few rows.
In Buffalo I was in the first row, took a snap of the empty stage before the show and some little camera cop almost had a coronary. He laid out the rules that the performer doen't want pics taken. I told him that was the halls rules not Lightfoot's. Some people further back took pics throughout but I didn't.
About five minutes before the 2nd half started he made a big deal about coming over and telling me and Dan that he had just talked with Mr. Lightfoot and that yes, it was okay to take some pictures. I said I would take some backstage when I saw him.
I don't use a flash for still pics or take very many, usually waiting until the last couple of songs.
Love the ripple thru the audience as they 'got' the joke..it's the same with all audiences..it's funnier than the joke..lol

Yay Lazy Morning! (one of my fav songs too - guess I will playing disc 2 today) it sounds like it was a fabulous night and thoroughly enjoyable. I love sitting by enthusiastic fans like you. Front row, meeting the band, having a request filled...doesn't get much better does it? I am thrilled for you. I will be seeing him in Colorado and this has just "whetted" my appetite for another Lightfoot concert - SOON! Thanks for posting the videos, as Char said sometimes we have the camera police out there in force, glad it didn't happen to you.

i think he always does the Wreck (man, some folks would feel cheated if not)...although i'd feel cheated without EMR...heck, i could think of a few others to drop instead and play EMR, SFAWN and CRT every show

i think there's a recent thread about the rotation stuff...anyhow 'it's all good', lol

as char said, what GREAT high res pics!...glad you both had wonderful evening
