Default Is that the same Steele's Tavern?

I recently had the pleasure of spending a few days in Toronto! I've only been north of Pennsylvania twice in my life (and that was to New York) so it was quite a thrill to explore such a beautiful country. While shopping on (I believe) Queen street, I walked past a place called Steele's Tavern- and I wondered, is that the same Steele's Tavern where Gordon was "discovered" back in 1964/65?

Steele's Tavern (349 Yonge St. at Gould) used to be on Yonge, just north of Dundas where the Eaton Centre now is. SAM the Record Man (347 Yonge St.) took over the property and Ryerson Univ.now owns the property.

It no longer exists on Yonge St.

i wasn't aware of a relocation to Queen St...glad you enjoyed your visit

interesting that you mention this at this point:

now that Sam's demolition has begun, you can again see the the framing of the original overhead apt windows that used to be on each side of the vertical Steele's Tavern marquee

back when Sam's took over the space, the second revolving circle of lights (spinning LPs) was added, so for decades, you couldn't see the original brick facade and windows

some pics of the transition from the 70s to today:

Thanks Char and ii for the info about Steele's. Maybe I was mistaken, I thought the sign said "Steele's" and even something about it being the legendary tavern but obviously it wasn't. As for Toronto, I wish I could have explored more, but the size of the city, traffic, pleasing the family, kept me from getting out and about very much. I would have loved to have seen Massey Hall as well, but ran out of time.
