Default Pls reply if you still have posting access

I notice there have been no postings to any of the four Corfid discussion forums for 2 months and I'm concerned that many of the people who posted regularly in the past have lost access. I know that fellow Melbourne resident Joveski and others lost access in late 2018 due to a website issue. And I and others temporarily lost access in late 2020 until ImportedNextSaturday suggested changing to the Firefox search engine. I think it's time for a serious stocktake of people with posting access. Please reply to this thread with your Corfid name (and preferably your location in the world) so that moderator Char and the rest of us stalwarts can have a better understanding of the 2022 Corfid community.

Seems to be working here in the US, but only with Firefox. No success with Edge or Chrome, and it's been that way for quite awhile. I did just verify that I could start a new thread if so inclined.

Yes can reply-as stated Firefox seems to be the only browser that this site works with.

Yes, I use Firefox and Mozilla and have access. Hello Dave- down under!

I bought a ticket for Eau Claire (Sept. 21). Couldn't talk my wife into coming on this one. But I will post the set list when I get back on Thursday.

I'll give it a go... For years I stubbornly stuck with IE11. A few years ago I finally defected to Firefox. But I brought IE back up just to make this attempt. Surprisingly IE still had my login information saved. And here goes.

Okay, it worked. Now I'm editing this on Firefox.

While I have not posted here in ages, I still look in from time to time. I actually came here just now, to do a search to see if myself or anyone else had posted regarding probably my favorite "deep cut" Lightfoot track. Didn't get any matches.

Hah, I just noticed the question.

The answer to that question. For most music fans I'm sure that changes all the time. And this has for me as well regarding GL over the years. With such a huge back catalog and all...

Since this is off-topic, I'll try to keep it brief.

So, the song I was wondering if I ever had talked about was from SHADOWS, and is, I'll Do Anything. A song I used to like just from tone of the arrangement, if nothing else. But many years ago bits of the songs came to represent a bit of sadness for a doomed relationship I once had. If I listen to it in that frame of mind, it has a very different feel to it.

However, having listened to it so many times over the years I came to appreciate what I called "arrangement" above, and it is very interesting. Pee Wee jumps back and forth from pedal steel to dobro, the other instruments are immaculately recorded and well placed into the stereo image. Really this harkens back to the excellent arrangements found on SUNDOWN and COTS.

So, it has come to have meaning for me both on a technical level and on a very personal level. In recent years, this is the GL song I have played more than any other.

Anyway, back to topic. I hear that Firefox is poised for a bit of a boost in popularity, with the upcoming changes to Chrome that will disrupt ad-blocking. Makes me glad I've avoided it over the years.

Since I had not posted in a while, the site had logged me off. But I was able to log back in (using FireFox) and post this.

Re: I'll Do Anything

Shadows has always been my favorite album, from my first time hearing it in February 1982. I had seen Gord in concert in Minneapolis in Oct. 1981 and he played many of the new songs on Shadows, but not that one. There are no fillers on that album- just a batch of great songs, including "I'll Do Anything."

I read somewhere that the song was put on the album because of the great guitar work by Terry Clements.

The song was performed in Gord's set lists in 1999 and 2000. I heard it in July 1999, up in the tent in Bayfield, Wisconsin. Terry Clements' solo was marvelous for sure. In concert, Gord had added a new lyric bridge, immediately after Terry's first solo. The new lyrics can be found on the Lightfoot website maintained by Wayne Francis. From what I can remember, the song has not been performed after Gord's 2002 illness. John in Minnesota

HAH, Well, maybe you did it in a fever dream??

Actually, I would be rather disturbed to find a post that I did not make that was attributed to me. Also, you are a Moderator here... (I happen to be an Admin of an entirely unrelated message board, and never has anything like that ever happened to me there!)

Regardless, I ended up sort of posting the comment I was thinking of doing, but it should have been in a thread to itself.

Hi Dave. No issues. Still can't comprehend why a forum is available on only one browser!

I'm hoping it's a "yes" Dave. Posting today as it is 10 years today since I ticked off the 1st bucket list item I had ever considered. In no small part due to the regulars on here incl. the incomparable Char. I saw the band at Massey Hall 3 days in a row on 15,16 & 17 November 2012 and it's something I'll never forget as was the opportunity to have a a few words with band members (and their lovely families).
