This is a serious request so now troll replies please.
I use a tape-recorder for interviews and on a recent VIP interview, I didnt notice the batteries were dying. Consequently, the VIP sounds like Donald Duck on speed. I need to regulate the tape back to normal speed. Is there anyone out there who can help me with this. Sir John maybe? If you can, email me direct please.
I have spoken to Ed who has sent me instructions but I am no tech-phile.
If anyone can help, I will be most grateful. Email me direct - no PMs.
Many thanks.

oh dear - I wish I could help but have no idea about that stuff..
If the original recording was done like that I think you may have to take it to a sound studio sort of place for them to run it thru a machine to slow it down as it re-records it at a more normal speed...
Lisa is getting a digital recorder this weekend to record her classes...it has a fast forward and slow function that doesn't distort the voices..
I will ask the tech guy at the college if he knows how to fix your problem...I'll e-mail him..

what you can do is transfer it to your computer and use an audio editing software to slow it down to normal speed/pitch.

simply connect the line-out or headphone jack into the line-in jack on the bak of your computer

use an audio recording program. press play on the tape, and record on the computer. that will dump it as a big wave file on the computer.

then use an audio editing program to slow it down.

hoep that helps...

that was roughly what Ed advised. I havent yet downloaded the appropriate software - I better bite the bullet and give it a whirl. You
will probably hear my wail for help way down there where you are! :D

I think Windows Media Player has a slowdowner, or at least, a plug in for that option.

Bru, if you can't slow it down, send me an mp3 of the interview and I'll use Cool Edit Pro to slow it down and clean it up.

Fantastic! Will do as soon as I learn how to send an mp3. Thanks, Cathy. You are a star.
Sending an mp3 can't be that difficult, right?

Bru, do you have it in mp3 format on your PC? If so, just attach it to an e-mail addressed to me.
I think I can slow down an rm, or even a wav, but wav files are quite large. It would probably take a week for you to send it on dial up.
If all else fails, do you have it on a tape? You could make a copy and send it to me.

Cathy,
I've been trying to figure out HOW to get it on to the PC. Joveski has been a great help but he refuses to come over and do it for me (the mp3, I mean!
I do have it on a tape. It is the tape that has gone into Donald Duck mode but I fear it would take too long. I'm on a deadline.
I'll let you know my next move, Cathy, and thanks for the offer.

Do you have a way to get it from tape to your PC? If so, do it and save it to your desktop as an mp3 (click file, save as, click the arrow in the top line of the box, select desktop, go down to the line that reads 'Save as type', click the arrow on the right side of that line and select mp3. Open an e-mail, address it to me, with any subject you choose, click insert / file attachment. A browser will open. Select desktop. A list of items on your desktop will appear. Find the mp3 in the list, highlight it and click the attach button. Then hit send.

Thanks RJ, you've all been wonderfully supportive. Time is running out but if I can win the Lotto this weekend, Joveski has promised to fly over and fix it for me.
That Gord b'day drink will have to go to someone else, RJ. I wont be there.

Bru - heya buddy... hope Donald Duck recovered from his helium party and you make your DL.

Miss ya around in here, too.

Tall and strong, she slips along, they call her Silverheels. When this gail whips up, may you fill your cup with the Merlot of the Highlands.

I know you prefer e-mail direct, doI'll follow up.

Just a toast from this old pack-sore mapper.

I'll light a candle for you after all you did for Merry.

later buddy
