Obviously there all probably are, but I am working on a tribute to him and I am wondering which song would most sum him up today at age 61?

Thanks

i just don't think i am going to tackle that topic....i really don't know if it's possible to narrow it down to just one! I think that there are pieces of his life in so many of his songs; but maybe you should be looking into his later works as that will probably most realte to how he sums up his life so far..maybe there isn't just one...after all isn't he just a painter passing through?

During the Much More Music show he stated that A Painter Passing Through best described him. Though many more of his songs are also about him or parts of his life. I guess APPT is the nearest thing to a brief summary.

Most auto-biographical?

I'd go with "In My Fashion" personally,as the video for the song seems to say that it is.

I can't think of another offhand. Anyone got an opinion?

Well I have to agree with APPT for a lifetime autobiography but I would choose "Harmony" for the last two years of his life.

I just heard "In my Fashion" for the first time today on one of my new CD's... and I was blown away, but, I'd have to agree -- it's nip and tuck for autobiographical info -- ultimately, I'd also say APPT.

Borderstone, there's a video for "In My Fashion?" Where can I see it?

One vote for Baby Step Back although APPT is a great choice.

It's a tie between "Wild Strawberries" and "Welcome To Try". APPT to me is more about his career rather then the man himself.

Hmmm, good point! I was going to add my vote for APPT until I read your thoughts on it.

I just read the lyrics to the song (having only heard it recently, and a few times at that), and at the end he calls us "victims" for having to listen to him!! How awful that he thinks or thought we were victims!! I hope he knows how much everyone loves him!!

Didn't Gord say in an interview (I think I have it on CD) that "In My Fashion" was very autobiographical but it wasn't actually written with that intent? IMF is a good one too.
