Jenney,
I know there was a lot of inappropriate (and disrespectful) behavior here, especially during "Wreck" but reading your review just had me in stitches! Like many of us in this forum, I have been to dozens of Gord concerts and can easily put myself there while reading your story. I am imagining the scenario develop, with each of your successive observations more ridiculous than the last, it just got funnier and funnier! I couldn't have come up with a more absurd story even if I was fiction writing about a Gordon concert.

I just hope that sad case of a woman never gets near another GL venue again! But thanks for thre review.

I think we can safely conclude that Security resources are primarily hired to reprimand long time fans if they should try capture any type of image using any type of device...

they may or may not respond with the same assertiveness, should anyone choose to throw items at the stage, or mount the stage (or the performer/performers)..fortunately, she resisted going to that extreme

There has to be a credit card commercial somewhere in here

...priceless!

(the question is, will there be any copycat crimes at Massey)

I was at the New Bedford concert and came away with thought that Gordon couldn't have handled himself better. He had so many options like getting angry, telling her to take her seat, refusing to sign her paper, calling for security, asking the bandsmen to remove her, leaving the stage, losing his focus, discussing the matter on stage, any and all of which would have escalated the situation and ruined the flow of the performance. Gordon demonstrated a controlled ego, vast experience and probably a deeply felt belief that even his most annoying fans are nonviolent. She actually did make bodily contact with him, had her arms wrapped around him, and nobody did anything to resolve the situation. Except Gordon. True to his philosophy of not ruffling any feathers, staying on message, living with peace and tolerance of all kinds.

That for sure is a memorable show for those who were there. I noticed in Torrington that there was a lot more whooting and hollering than there used to be at his shows. I wonder if it is the booze or just the attitude of the people nowadays. It is sad anyway.

This New Bedford incident reminds me that, back in 2007 at the Paramount Theater in Aurora, IL, my 12 year old daughter tried to place a picture of her pure white cat (who she named "Cotton Jenny") on the stage. It was attached to a brief note that she wrote to Gordon. She didn't attempt to walk up on the stage, she simply leaned as far up on the stage as she could from the front row to place ithe note at the base of his microphone stand about 10 minutes before the concert was to begin. Security just about arrested her. It's funny how security in one venue was ready to squash a harmless, well-intended communication from a young admirer, while security in another let that fiasco go on as long as they did. I guess "your mileage may vary."

Can't believe this !!!! If I were there, I would have been tempted to drag the woman ( not a lady) off the stage myself.

I know this is probably not a popular suggestion, but get rid of the alcohol at Gord's concerts.
That would put a stop to at least some of the crap and loudmouths who have no business being there !!! ( gotta vent, sorry )

Can't believe Gord handled this so well !!!!

I wouldn't be above writing complaint letters to the New Bedford theatre about the lack of security - we pay good money for these concerts - it's not Tom Jones or the Rolling Stones.

Charlene - is this an issue ?

Gord deserves better treatment - maybe it will give him some new joke ideas = love to hear him tell the same old jokes, even when we know the corny answer = it's Gord's delivery that make them great. ( I feel better now ).

I've no recollection of anybody ever rushing the stage at a lightfoot concert. Security can only react AFTER the fact and I'm sure no one expected some ignoramus to whip off her bra and then get onstage. Lightfoot being of a certain age and of the demeanour we all know handled it remarkably well. What he said later could be a different kettle of fish however.
lol
The whole thing could prove to be the impetus for new onstage patter...he may just decide to move on and forget it tho.

There really is no need for that sort of behaviour and I'm just sorry that everyone in that theatre that night and not just Lightfoot had to put up with one person's ego. If there was drinking involved she made a choice to drink too much before she got loaded enuf to make a horses arse of herself.

At Massey the mere sight of a shiny object brings the camera police around! But security would be hard pressed to stop something like that happening at any venue, especially since she had a seat close to the stage. Her lack of respect for Lightfoot is shameful. I wonder how she feels about her behaviour today...

I hardly think the actions of one or two dim bulbs should result in a "no alcohol" venue. Chances are people like this woman would behave exactly the same, whether alcohol were a factor or not.

I don't remember what year it was, but I was in Vegas and a nimble young girl jumped the stage there. The band had just exited and she followed them. Scary Barry was in attendance and handled that quickly.

Right on deb

I am pretty sure Barry H would have quick work of this gal and her floppy chest

If this happens at Massey I would expect the otherwise mild mannered city constables to react in G8 fashion and have the culprit shackled and remove in a Hannibal Lectar mask, quicker than you can say "it's been good to know ya"

Tim that certainly sounds like a sweet scene turns sour but I do hope Gord enjoyed her work of art

I agree Vicky, I think Gord concerts should be like the golden globes, where they not only serve wine and liquor but bring you your favorite poison, right to your seat

A few years ago, the Pabst Theatre in Milwaukee had servers coming around, taking orders, and bringing drinks. It was a little distracting. LOL
