Dear all,
You are going to have a dinner party.
You can invite up to four guests. Anybody!
Who would you invite and what would the meal be?

Sitting opposite me is a lady who shall remain anonymous.
Sitting to my right, is a Mr Gordon Lightfoot(surprise, surprise)!
On my left,is a Mr Donald Fagen(complete with shades).

I hope they like steak........

Frank.

To my right would also be Gordon Lightfoot.
Across from me would be you Frank, as I would be assured there would be wonderful and witty conversation.
On my left would be Char as she too would provide much knowledge and conversation. I would certainly would have to have several dinner napkins to collect the druel coming from my lips.
The meal Prime Rib along with twice baked potatoes and strawberry shortcake. No turkey for Char.

Impressive guest list you two. But Frank, anonymous guest? - no fair, lol.

Narrowing the guest list down to the stipulated number would be a very difficult thing to do if I were to include the folks from this board that I find intriguing, mysterious, witty, and/or amuzing - I would have to have another dinner party just for them. So, here is my guest list for this particular party...

Across from me, Sam Elliott
To my right, Rodney Crowell
To my left, Gordon Lightfoot (OK, let's face it - he's gonna have a lot of dinner parties to go to )

The menu would be...

Salad of bitter greens (lol, no intentional reference to Gord's song)
Chicken Bourguignonne (a little twist on the traditional Beef Bourguignonne)
White and Wild Rice mixture
Baked Apples for dessert

I've just picked up the hot plate apple crumble, without gloves...!
SMASH! It's all over the floor!

I'll have to send the lady guest out to get another one.
(Well I can't send Gord or Don,can I...)?
I regret inviting her...
She's so beautiful, they've spent the whole evening talking to her, rather than answering my questions!!

Anyway, with her gone,I'm in the middle of the most invigorating conversation I've ever had, with my two all time musical heroes.

All of a sudden...
THE 'PHONE RINGS!!!DAMN!!!
It's the lady guest.
"I can't find apple crumble,will blackberry do?"

Frank.

Frank, you are too funny!

You should never regret inviting a "Lady Guest". If she is indeed a lady, she'll make sure all your questions are answered - that's what we do for the menfolk. Right Ladies? LOL!

Janice,
I think I'm falling in love with this lady!
I'm alone with her at the moment!
Gord has gone to tune his guitar.
Don is playing the piano.
I've just told her a joke.
She wasn't very impressed!

Q) Whats the difference between water and Gords music?
A) You can live without water for several days! LOL.

Oh no!! I've just spilled a bottle of red wine on her dress!!

LOL, Frank

Too bad she wasn't impressed with the joke - I thought it was kind of funny, myself

As For the red wine - after the initial shock, she'll get over it. After all that's why they invented dry cleaners. If it doesn't come out - it's just a dress. It doesn't compare with an evening with three wonderful gentlemen. She probably lives close enough that she could go change. If not, I'm sure you could find something she could put on. Everyone including your lady guest will get a good laugh out of the whole situation - trust me on this

So, what happens next at your soiree - come on, more details, LOL

Janice

So, Frank,

Do Donald and Gord ever get around to playing/singing? Are they fans of each other? What songs do they do at this dinner party of yours? Or would you just talk about music, life and such?

I don't think you've mentioned before, do you sing and/or play an instrument?

Janice,
(My sister's a music teacher. Taught me to play piano as a kid. Forgotten most of it though).

Everything's perfect at the moment...
I'm looking into the eyes of the most beautiful women I've ever known!

I can hear Gord getting ready....
Ah 123 Ah 123 Ah 123...

Don is looking at the light on the ceiling,
While he's playing the piano...
(Maybe that's why he's wearing shades)!

What could be better than this...?
I'm on a high...its paradise!
I want it to last forever...

Wait a minute,whats that noise...!?

DAMN...Someone's knocking at the front door!!!

Frank.

i admit, I would love to have Gord sitting beside me at a dinner table, maybe with Pierre Trudeau(so sad for now that can never happen)but what an interesting man. And my love at the other end.

Doesn't sound like it could get any better than this.

Who could that be knocking on your door?

Gord, Kris, James Taylor.

Gord, Trudeau, Liona Boyd.

Gord, Kris, Johnny Cash

I'd pay a caterer to figure out the food/drinks details!

I've just opened the door. It's my neighbour!
"Frank,we're out of sugar.Do us a favour, fill this cup up!
I haven't disturbed you,have I?Have you got visitors?
Why are you looking at me in that strange way?"

I've just returned to paradise.
The lady's beauty doesn't intimidate me...no,no,no.
I'm determined to make this an equal relationship.
In fact,I always have the last word.
She says "Frank do this." And I say "Yes,dear."

Gord "Ah123...are you ready...What would you like me to play,Frank?"

Fv "That's a tough one Gord...with over 200 to choose from!"

Gord "Hey Don,maybe we could do a duet, despite our different styles?"

Donald "After listening to some of the tracks from East of midnight,I'm not too sure our styles are that different,Gord."

Fv "Hey Don,are you homesick?"

Donald "Homesick? How can I be homesick?
Everything in this damn country is American, from the TV programmes to the fast food joints on every High Street..."

Gord "I kinda miss Canada,I don't like being away too long..."

Fv "Tell me about it Gord!...In England you're known as the ghost.
Everybody knows you,but nobody's seen you...!"

B lady "Frank,darlink...get me a drink...sigh."
Fv "Yes,dear...!"

Gord "Ah123...here we go..."

Fv "WHAT'S THAT NOISE...!
I DON'T BELIEVE IT SOMEONE'S AT THE DOOR AGAIN."

Frank.

Since this is purely fantasy, I picked both living & dead celebrities....let's see Gordon meet Elvis, Albert Einstein, and George W. Bush...Let's Talk! We would eat German Food like Weinier Schnitzel, Beef Strogenoff, Veal Goulash, & Potato Pancakes! Apple Strudel for dessert.

Tom, you may have to add the Secret Service to your guest list if our new Pres is George W. Hope we find out in time for the dinner party.
