Here are some other covers of Gordon's songs well worth checking out . . .

*** "Song for a Winter's Night" Mary O'Hara singing with a Celtic Harp!!!! Very good

*** "It's Worth Believin" by the Irish folk group Arranmore. Top quality.

*** "Pussywillows, Cat-tails" on an out of print LP from Kenny Rankin. Great!!!!

*** "Looking at the Rain" by Hank Williams Jr. Better than Gordon's version by far.

So far I have collected about 80 cover versions of Gordon's songs. By far the most odd was an LP called "Nashville Sundown" with steel guitar versions of 1970s songs. It is hard to keep your gag reflex in control while it is playing, but Gordon did give his "official" endorsement on the back of the LP.

It's good to know someone else has heard the Tony Rice album. I hear he can no longer sing in concert but he's still playing.

I would agree that the Tony Rice "..Lightfoot" album is a good one and one to have in your collection. I have three of Rice's albums, so far...including the 'Lightfoot tribute album'...and I truly enjoy all three. The thing I like most is his guitar playing and I tend to mentally block out the vocals. His latest one, "Unit of Measure", is all instrumental and is my favorite.
Yes, BillW, Tony Rice did have a severe vocal chord problem and was pretty much off the circuit for a number of years. I haven't heard whether he is singing again or if he even plans to. Even without his voice he is a gifted musician.

I loved Tony's singing and I really miss it. His guitar playing is out of this world and he is superb with or without his voice. His latest work is on the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's album: Will The Circle Be Unbroken Volume 3. I do not yet have the album but, I am confident it is good.
