I've been trying to locate albums by Roch Voisine, ever since I heard him on an Anne Murray Christmas special in 1998 on TV. I tried Virgin Records, and they led me around awhile, thinking he was European, but I think he's Canadian or French-Canadian. So I never did get anywhere getting any music. Does any one out there know Roch, where he's from, what should he be under in the music store, best album in your opinion? He's kinda folky and has a great voice, from the little I heard. (He has nothin' on GORD, of course, don't get me wrong...)
Thanks for any info!

Hi theotterjudy,

I haven't heard about him yet, but here's a little information I found on the All - Music Guide:

Born on Mar 26, 1963 in St. Basile, New Brunswick, Canada.

Though he wrote songs as a teenager, Roch Voisine studied physiotherapy at Canada's University of Ottawa. He began a solo career in 1988, however, releasing his self-titled debut the same year. One year later, Voisine wrote and recorded "Helene" with Stephane Lessard. The single (and following album) was successful in Quebec and France, eventually selling over one million copies. Roch Voisine has also released Double (1990) and I'll Always Be There (1993). -- John Bush, All Music Guide

They also have a picture:

All three albums are on sale at Amazon.com

HTH,

-Florian

Hey, Florian!

Thanks so much. Boy, he's a cutie! I will definitely check out Amazon.com. I should have thought of that myself, duh....

P.S. What does HTH mean? "here's to..."?

Roch has been around for awhile now. He certainly is nice to look at. He had a song out last summer but I don't remember the name. He has a nice voice and has had a few minor hits in English speaking Canada but is bigger in the French population. I'd say he's a POP artist. Let us know how your search goes.

Thanks Florian and Char.

Florian: HTH came to me in the shower last night. I felt so silly. But at least I figured it out without looking at "abbreviations" first!

Char: Cool! I'll look it up very soon on google. Thanks!
