Hey all,I was reading some old messages and I happened on the thread where folks had wonderd where I'd gone, since I hadn't been on in days (12/2003).

John F. had asked Matthew Bullis to track down the library I post from (my home PC since then is Kaput!).

That gave me the idea to E-Mail you guys a picture of it but this PC wont allow that function!

So,I'll supply this web address and the first one of you with thte capabilty to do so,please put the picture up so others can seee it here.
I'd appreciate it.

I'm also doing this because next month I'll be a 3-B! LOL! :D

Go to: http://www.phoenixpubliclibrary.org

Then, where it says "select a branch" choose Cholla and the picture will appear! If you're seeing the arched roof with the window on top of the building, that's where I post from.

Go on,you know you wanna look!

Later he bought them all ice cream cones and continued on his way."

So I guess that old newspaper account clears that up. I believe The Watchman was planting apple trees in the area at the same time so he might have something to add.

Glad you asked.

I was BillW. I was replacing apple trees for the Cholla city council because some beer guzzling goon took out a row of them with his pick-up on his drunken drive home from the local beer joint.

I was digging my last hole when Lightfoot and Haynes walked by arguing about who was singing out-of-tune back-up vocals during some concert called Montreux.

About this time a guy ran by singing a Maria Carey tune, naked as a jaybird and ran into the Cholla library. At this time Lightfoot and Haynes looked at each other in disbelief and Lightfoot commented that he just got an idea for a new toe-tapper.

Lightfoot looked back at me and said "Hi Watchman, didn't realize that was you. Did you see that guy running naked into the library?

I said "sure did. Third time today he's been by here." Hey man, thanks again for your all your help on the Chinuguntha", Lightfoot said. I said "yeah whatever Lightfoot, you ate your pet bird Lyle. By the way Lightfoot, I see you got a new bird, what's it's name?" Lightfoot replied "his name is Fezziwig and he sings about as well as the ol' straw boss here." The straw boss muttered some obscenity at Lightfoot and I couldn't help but laugh at the two of them.

The three of us walked into the library expecting chaos from the streaker but what we found was the exact opposite. People were going about their business as if nothing had happened.

There in a corner we spotted the naked singer sitting at a computer typing and typing away. We crept up behind the naked man and Lightfoot saw a picture of himself on the monitor which read "Gordon Lightfoot Discussion Forums".

Lightfoot's eye's got big and said "Net People! Their everywhere! Come on Haynes, let's get outa here."

Lightfoot and Haynes left the library and I haven't seen either one since.

After his 18th post, Borderstone gathered the children in the periodical section and lead them in a teary eyed rendition of "This Land Is Your Land".

Hey Sheryl why did you do a Stevo and upload the smalL picture to your folder on the MSN grouop??
a google image search found me a larger version already on the internet:-

plus a pic of the branch's architect confusingly named Bill Bruder

on the same page indeed is a link to another nice photo of Border's naturist haunt

JohnFowles
I thoroughly enjoyed Watchman Al's latest bit of tomfoolery.
I am nominating you as an honorary Brit forthwith
and a note for somebody masquerading as "Reminder" and the other "touchy" poster this topic is very relevant to GL as it concerns the place from where Walter "Stoneborder" has most often used the facilities to post his ever entertaining contributions

Thanks for remembering me Mr. Fowles,

The "tomfoolery" was indeed amusing, but remains small talk. I post from ????. Let's start another thread !!!!!

"Oh yes they call him the streak!" :D "Fastest thing on 2 feet!"

Well, this has to do with Lightfoot because this is the place where I found this site & all of you and what's more...across the way is the Sam Goody where I bought "Songbook" and became a "Lighthead"

So there!

Reporting "live' from the back of the building,it's been "B". Back to you ...aaahhh,whoever is a national news anchor now!

I can't believe all the connections we've had with Gord! I was around 11 at the time this happened -- my parents were travelling around the southwest on a vacation with us kids when, stopped at the red light by the library, we saw Gord and Rick run in right after the streaker. I yelled to my dad to stop the truck, shouting, "Daddy, there's Gordon Lightfoot!" But he refused to stop, saying, "I don't want anything to do with longhairs and their wild music!" I tried to hum a few bars of "Carefree Highway" to convince him of Gord's worthiness as an artist, but, <sigh>, no go. We went on our way and ended up, eventually, at The Ponderosa ranch (yes, there really is one!) in a nearby state. The coincidences continue...

Sorry, John, almost forgot to answer your question. Um, basically, I just grabbed the first picture I saw. I was in a hurry. Am I forgiven?

Excellent shot, Watchman! If you look carefully, in the library window's reflection, you can just barely make out our red truck and camper atop it.

Yes I can understand the confusion but I wear a small amount of clothing when I run:

I'm wearing '3976' in this one.

Wow, I just remembered an article I read once on Ray Stevens! He said he was sitting on a street corner with a sign that said "will writenovelty songs for food", when he saw Borderstone go running by. He saw Lightfoot and Haynes enter the library after him, so he immediately went home to write "The Streaker". He figured that he had to get a jump start on Lightfoot before he penned a similiar song, as Steven's career wasn't doing as well and it had been a while since he had a hit. He figured that seeing Borderstone run by, with Lightfoot on his, um, heels, was a sign that the topic was song worthy. Stevens often wondered if it forced Lightfoot to rework Carefree Highway, which he claims was originally going to be Clothes Free Libary.
I'd forgotten all about that article till now!

In a startling coincidence I purchased the lyrics to the first two verses of "Clothes Free Library" on E-bay and will happily share as the copyright has expired ;(there even seems to be an oblique reference to Borderstone!!!!)
Perhaps history will record it was better that he chose to change the lyrics and title.

"Clothes Free Library"
Flickin’ through the pages of a Playboy magazine,
I wonder what size of bra that girl would take,
It says her name’s Beyonce yet I’ll be damned
how she manages to keep that straight a face
But she's left me with an idea of what I’d like to do

Clothes Free Library, you attract a low life crowd,
Clothes Free Library , yes I’ll say it loud,
The morning after blues and
Last week some scumbag went and stole my shoes
Clothes free Library, let me slip away,
Slip away from you

Turnin’ through the pages of the books that I like best
That same sleaze is over there again
He’s always posting 'bout me , he seems quite satisfied
But I’ve got a feelin’ his brain is almost fried

Clothes Free Library, you attract a low life crowd,
Clothes Free Library , yes I’ll say it loud,
The morning after blues and
Last week some scumbag went and stole my shoes
Clothes free Library, let me slip away,
Slip away from you

Just bringing this back up for Affair on Touhy Ave. who didn't know I post at the library.

Which is odd, since Touhy has a message in this thread.
