Default Lightfoot v. Outagamie County

In June, I ordered tickets for the Sept.22 Lightfoot show at the Pabst Theatre in Milwaukee. My friend and I had seen him there in '07, prompting me to write about it for our local paper. And that's how I first became acquainted with Char, Corfid, and all of you.
In August, I received a summons for jury duty. I was scheduled to serve for five days in September. And of course, one of those days is Sept.22.

So far, I haven't had to go in on any of my required days, as apparently a lot of cases settle prior to their trial dates. I'm hoping this trend continues, but it's very possible that I will need to be in court all day on Thursday, and then have to drive 2 hours to Milwaukee through rush hour and road construction to get to the show on time.

After watching years of endless reruns of Law & Order, I have been curious about what jury selection and trials are really like. I just wish the timing were a little different.

But I might get a good story out of this...

You should have written them a letter and told them it would be impossible to do it that week. Please change it to another week.

Happend to me a few times and the court was more than obliging.

Wes,

I probably should have tried that. The summons said people with a "temporary hardship" could petition to be switched to a different month. My thinking was that I should just go ahead and fulfill my obligation and hope for the best. In retrospect, that may not have been the wisest thing.

I'm sure it will work out somehow, and I will be able to get to the show and post a report.

Hopefully that will get me back in good standing with the moderator.

From what I've been told, some judges just aren't real understanding about some things though.

During voir dire this morning, I was excused from the jury panel, and thus not selected to be one of the jurors hearing the trial. Game on!!!
