If it was not for the NET I would be one. I Live in the UK. After " Salute" in 83, the albums stopped and getting any news about Gord just seemed to dry up. The years rolled on still no news on Lightfoot. So as far as I was concerned that was the last album, it wasent that easy getting his albums anyway. So it wasent untill we had PC up and running in 99, signed on to net. One day pressed in the mans name. well I could not believe that he was still doing gigs and I had lost so much great music. So how many 40 + year olds living outside north america know that Gord is still going strong. I never got to see him in 70s and 80s when he was over here, but I have been over and seen him at Massey .also met him and had some pics taken, and it is all down to the net. It is the only place I get lightfoot news.

here in australia, we get NO ligthfoot news. no mention about the greatest hits, not a mention about the final 4 coming up and not a word about the Reno dvd.
i only saw one or two reviews about APPT when it came out, but apart from that only the NET (which in bob dylan terms stands for Never Ending Tour) can keep us up to date.

Gypsy,

Your story was very much my story - except I
DID get to see The Man whenever he came to
Britain. I also saw him in Canada a few times in the late 70s but then nothing
until I found him on the 'net. Finding
Lightfoot also introduced me to some of my
'to be' best friends. Was at the Massey
last May - saw Gord for the first time in
20 years! Plan to be there again in November
(and I've already seen him 4 times this year
... :O)
btw Gypsy, where are you in the UK?

The first was the original issue, and the second was from "Silverheels' Gold" (or to stick with the alliteration, "Silverheels' Silver"). Anyway, I was a big Lightfoot fan, and am finding out that once you are one, you will always really will be one no matter who else you listen to. (It's kind of like growing up Catholic.) I put in the Gord's Gold II CD every now and then, and out of curiosity, wanted to see if anybody else still liked him. I was pleasantly surprised to find a very nice, enthusiastic group like this who are up to date on what's going on with Gordon Lightfoot. I've learned so much. Thanks, folks!

Brian,
that is really good: Once a Lighthead,
always a Lighthead! That just about
sums it up.

Gypsy,

I know who you are now - I think we've
made contact in the past. I live in Surrey.

You're right - the only songs played down
here are IYCRMM and Sundown, sometimes
Daylight Katy. And only then if I bombard
them with requests for 'anything Lightfoot'.

You going to Toronto in Nov? If so, see you
there?

Yes I remember it was about a year or so ago. I hope to be going this Nov, but will have to leave it late in booking.
