Good for a giggle, see the article in ORILLIA TODAY on the Ontario Provincial Police training their horses at

Larry Stewart and Lightfoot the horse are deep in thought, the two of them engaged in a silent conversation only they can hear.
A ruddy-faced Westerner, with a pleased-to-meet-you smile and a handshake to match, Stewart 'speaks' to his trusty companion without uttering a word.

"I just 'think' it," he later tells a reporter by way of explanation. Staring at the ground and avoiding eye contact with the majestic animal, Stewart mentally commands the three-year-old quarterhorse to move to his rear.

Lightfoot quietly complies, backing up and swinging his hind end around.

Gee, Annie. I clicked on this topic and browsed through the last couple of lines without reading the rest. It sure caught my attention!

This is really quite funny. About a week ago, I asked Val, who is a thoroughbred racing fan, if there was ever a horse named Lightfoot. In my opinion,it would be the ultimate name for a race horse. I think she told me there was once a horse by that name, but it had nothing to do with Gordon.

One of the writers for the Toronto Star or Toronto Sun has a beautiful white horse named Lightfoot as well.
Perfect name for a race horse (or a dancer!)

"Ya see,I've been through the desert on a horse Lightfoot named,it felt good to be out of the rain!" I couldn't resist! I think it's a cool name too. Does this mean the horse feeds on candy apples, instead of oates and hay?" I gotta get me that horse! Later!
