Well, Sydney Steve, now you've got two reasons to cry. First, I didn't act very fast, and second, Beautful wins the showdown.

I like both of these songs. I'm intrigued that so many dislike Beautiful. Perhaps its because it is so idealistic and perhaps cliched. I am a sucker for sentimental though and it expresses a beautiful sentiment.

Sometimes love suprises us. The Watchman suggested matching up the next two songs. In his words, the songs are "about missing out on finding love and how close we sometimes come to finding it and never even knowing it." So corfid members, weigh in on the following songs:

Much to My Surprise

or

A Passing Ship

Enjoy

I've already mentioned how much I like "Much to my Surprise", but (sorry to those who love the "Harmony" CD) I think "A Passing Ship" is the last truly great song that GL has written.

"A Passing Ship" was my favorite Gord song for many years straight. So that one gets my vote.

"Much To My Surprise" for me. One of the strongest songs on that album. Although I love "A Passing Ship" too, but the line "Give me no lip" sounds little more than a useful rhyme!

Much To My Surprise. It brings back memories to a similar situation I had earlier in my life...

I vote for A Passing Ship, too. And Derek did a fantastic version of that song at Cafe Lena in Saratoga Springs, NY.

Did he do it with just a guitar? I've always wanted to hear it done acoustically.

Another hard one, but "Much To My Surprise: flows so nicely.

Yes, he played it on his D18GL and the rest of us accompanied him. I think he and Ed strummed and Matt played lead. I played bass on that song, I think.
