I recall where I was as well.

I was 9 then and at home with my family on Tues. night and Harry Reasoner (whose voice and face back then gave me the creeps)came on the CBS news and made that annoucement.

All I knew of Elvis at that time was my Mom & Dad's old 45's and few LP's. I knew what he looked & sounded like but had not seen him on TV yet.

There was a special on one time but i fell asleep just as it was starting.

All I can say is,as many have,it's a shame he fell into drugs and overeating (only God knows what else).

The lesson that has been taken from his demise is that,while it can be great to be famous,the entertainer and those in his circle need to remember that this is a human being,not a show horse! Elvis never really stopped working from 1956 until the end.

No one should have to work "that" hard. It may be show business but that doesn't mean it's easy.

He was one of the greats,I don't put him on as high a pedestal as others do,but he did change our world.
