That turned out alright. Glad they went with Restless rather than Sundown. I'll Tag Along, I suppose is a sweet song, but I wondered if he was bored when he wrote it, (not that he is). I thought he sounded like, ok, I guess, I'll go, if ya want to, I don't really. Do we hafta hold hands...I'd really rather be somewhere else. I could go on and on...(sorry)

Somewhere around seven, or eight years ago, I said something about the song, 'I"ll
Tag Along' sounding like a boring song. I did not know it was Char's "favorite song". Suddenly she was saying that it was her favorite song, and was requesting Gordon to sing it. That's been going on for years, and I hadn't said anything about it, although I think I had a reason.
If Gordon knew before that, that it was your favorite song, Char, then fine. Everything's alright...or maybe you felt you had to come to his rescue ...that's sort of alright, maybe, but I certainly didn't say that to insult him. ...or maybe you just wanted to put me down. There is no reason for that.

Patti - I have NO idea what you're talking about. I have no recollection of any post you made regarding ITA at any time on this board nor do I recall your thoughts on the song. Once again, I have NO idea what you are going on about regarding the song or me putting you down.

In speaking with Gordon in person and on the phone as well as in private conversations and correspndence with him I have expressed my love for ITA going back 10-12 years or so.

Yes, everything is alright but not because you say so. It always was and always will be. There's no need for ME to rescue Gordon Meredith Lightfoot either. I can't even fathom what that means.

p.s. - I have NEVER aked him to sing ITA. He just does.

hey, i was at char's visiting after Kenyon had performed ITA and she commented it was her fave (perhaps tied with Beautiful)....that was 2001

need to google your facts, i guess....i don't understand the McCartney (sporting porn star stache, lol) tie in....but it's all good...yes, everything is all right, eh

BW, is this what you meant by the new golden age? this 'vibe' aint new

JJ,

I tried to send you a PM about a live acoustic version of "Morning Glory" (I think from the Art Park venue), but I got the automatic message "JJ has exceeded their stored private messages quota and cannot accept further messages until they clear some space."

If you clear some space and let me know, I'll re-send it.

What?

I can so so say so!

p.s.

That's pretty cool, then you must have told him during his hospital stay or a year or two before that, and then it's the first song he sings (at Mariposa) when he gets out. How alright is that?

the first mention of ITA was in private correspondence with him in 2000.

the first actual chat with him about it was in our first phone call - March 2007.http://www.corfid.com/vbb/showthread...gordon+calling

CHAR: Are there any songs that you’ve written and performed over the years and you don’t do any longer for whatever reason that you wish you could do again?

G.L.: Yeah there’s a lot of songs that have to sit on the sidelines but we do manage to fit them in once in a while.

CHAR: I know you throw Ponyman in once in a while. What I’d like to hear is “I’ll Tag Along.”

G.L.: I know, see that’s a very nice song and it’s one of my favourite practice tunes as well to play when I’m working here alone at the house. I sometimes would like to do that to open up side two and I could think about doing that….maybe I’ll try that.

CHAR: It’s a beautiful song.

G.L.: It’s fun to sing too, it’s a nice song.

CHAR: There’s a video, something by the CBC, did you do a video of that where you’re sitting on a stool with just your guitar at Massey?

G.L.: I think I remember when I did that – yeah! We did it sitting on the stage at Massey Hall. Except my A string was out of tune! The guitar tuning was off that day.

CHAR: Oh geeze, you’re probably the only one that would know that. Are you still that much of a perfectionist?

G.L.: Oh yeah, we’re more professional about intonation than before.

I do remember reading that conversation from 2007, but I also remember you writing about telling him a couple years or so before that, outside somewhere, that you liked that song. This, I am quite sure was after my comment.
I probably wouldn't even have mentioned it, but the mention of that song seems so prevalent here at times, and also, I know you were mad at me back then when I got that angry pop-up from you. I didn't have time to read it all, because it only poppped up for a second or two. It seemed to possibly pertain to a poem I had sent him at Early Morning Productions just a few days earlier.

Patti - I, once again have NO idea what you are talking about. I told Lightfoot 12 years ago that I like that song and I have mentioned it to him over the years, several times, in correspondence, phone calls and in person. I don't know where/when I spoke to him about it "outdoors." What that has to do with whatever you are talking about is beyond me. I don't know about pop-ups/being mad/- I can't send pop-ups on this site or anywhere. I don't even know what that is. I don't know about any poem YOU sent to EMR..

There's no "suddenly it's Char's favourite song" AFTER you said whatever you did. It's been a favourite since I first heard it when the album was released. I don't know what the problem is other than you don't want to hear about I'll Tag Along. And once again - I have NEVER asked him to sing it. He just does. He's just that thoughtful and nice.

Char,
I didn't imagine those angry pop-ups. They came from corfid, and came to me on corfid, and they were from you.
And I heard you the first time, you NEVER asked him to play that song. So let's emphasize that again and take the focus off everything else that I'm right about. ok, so you didn't ask in so many words. You know, this really doesn't have much to do with that song.
You say he is kind and thoughtful, but if that was really something that meant anything to you, I would think you would be nicer. I have been kind to you for years, and very patient with you, even though you make sure I don't fit in to your little cult. So, where's my compliment? lololol.
I have never given you a reason to be disrespectful to me, yet you enjoy being rude, and you think I am someone you can show your true feelings to. Even when you are nice which is seldom, it's only because you want to see a photo of that guy. drool, drool.
Sincerely,
Me, not really so much into kicking a fence full of pitbulls.

too funny, its a pre-Massey tradition that weird, cryptic posts begin surfacing

PMS -pre-Massey syndrome, lol

don't get why there is a McCartney and Blue Ocean video in a great thread about some of Gord's cool live acoustic tracks...and no thread would be complete without a Fowles CD cover image or London Gord address plaque

wow, thanks John!!! very kind, what a treat....and thank you Dave!!!...in touch

hey, all beloved corfid members are part of the same cult... it's Gordtown

very droll and political Jennifer
Me neither I suspect that there are others here who are simiilarly befuddled so can I suggest Patti that you try to be a tad more specific in your grievious allegations. One can only assume that these "popups" are messages that pop up as it were a thread in which case it should be very easy to identify them. could you do so then find the diirect link to the offending message(s)
TIP If having found one you then right click on the message number at upper right,
example your most recent one is number 46 in this thread

then the right click (or context menu) that does indeedy "popup" includes a pertinent command to "copy shortcut")

in the case of your message number 46 this will save the address of the direct link to that message on your clipboard
http://www.corfid.com/vbb/showpost.p...3&postcount=46
all ready to post back to us in another message. If you could do this it just might get us all off of our tenterhooks whatever they might be!
I have taken the time and trouble to post this as a public service as I suspect that not everybody knows of this sometimes most useful facility
that bold statement is certainly true judging by the very few occasions when anybody other than myself uses it
Would that rude Jones the Younger please note that I have composed the above without displaying a single example of CD cover art or another view of Gord's blue plaque!!
