Hi,

My name is Elko Haverkamp from the Netherlands.
I'm a Gord fan since 33 years.

Some years ago I discovered an other great singer/songwriter: Eugene Ruffolo from NYC - since feb, '03 I'm his manager for Europe, he's just finishing his 4 weeks Germany tour.

I'm curious whether one of you ever heard of this great musician....?

Check it out.

You're definitely right Renske. Eugene is awesome! Beautiful melodic songs and gently poetic lyrics. What do you want more?

Hi everybody,
My name is Sue how do you do?? I first heard Eugene's music a couple of years ago. After checking out a gig May 2002 in Geldrop I was completely sold. We've been in contact eversince. He deserves all the attention he can get (I'm sorry mister watchman!!!!). I'm proud to have been able to open up for his try-out show in Dordrecht, together with Barry de Koning on guitar.
And Elko thanks for everything, keep up the good work!

Love, Sue

Maybe helpful to explain; I'm just managing on
"empathy and sympathy" basis, in our country. With some friends, we give assistance to gifted American and Canadian singer/songwriters.
Next month Brian Webb from Boston will have a tour in Holland.

Just having a little fun with a bloody salesman.

Nothing wrong with posting about a musician that others may like but trying to sneak it in through the backdoor is not necessary. All the fake responses to your initial post are silly. Just be upfront instead of replying with all that phony crappola.

Have you ever plugged J.G. Snagglesworth in the Netherlands? You should. Another talented musician for sure. Here he is. What you see is what you get. He's very down to earth.

Elko and Renske, can't keep all the emails straight and who sent what (you both have sent emails) but I wanted to thank you for all the dirty language, pictures and the all around filthy language. Not all at orginal, but well appreciated nonetheless. Your ISP's will also find some of this stuff interesting...

While I agree with Watchman in that it's not necessary to play games such as replying to your own post using another name, if that is indeed what happened here, I will admit that I have never heard of Eugene Roffolo and I rather liked the few clips I listened to at his site. He kind of reminds me, in style, of older James Taylor stuff. So no matter how it came about, I'm rather pleased to now be aware of the name.

I rather liked Brian Webb's clips too. But I guess I'm among the few who like to hear about traveling troubadours who don't participate in the mainstream. My friend has started a concert series here in San Diego where he brings in a lot of these traveling performers who are every bit as entertaining as the Gordon Lightfoots of the world - notice I didn't say they were as good as far as songwriting and such, just that they are entertaining and some of their songs are very good. With Gord out of the performance arena for now, we have to get our entertainment where we can. We've had Jack Williams and Darryl Purpose so far and they are magnificient. Upcoming is Geoff Muldaur, Chuck Pyle, and Mark Erelli. All very different styles of acoustic singer-songwriters, ranging from folk/blues to folk/rock, but all very good and very captivating. Players, especially, would like some of these guys' picking styles and playing, but even the layman, such as my self, who just enjoys good acoustic music, in the intimate setting of smaller venues, will probably like them as well.

Speaking of traveling troubadours, Matthew, I've not forgotten about your Mary Gauchier CDs. They'll be coming soon

And no - I won't be following this up with any posts from ficticious supporters. A lot of the folks who participate in this discussion board have heard me talk about some of these performers in one cyberspace water cooler or another or even in direct email with those I communicate with offlist. Nor is it some spam attempt to get folks to attend our concerts since I don't know of anyone else on this board who lives in the San Diego area. Just passing on some music names that might be worth checking out. You may like some of them, you may like none of them and that's ok, but you'll never know unless you broaden your horizens.

Sorry to offend anyone but I must agree with Watchman and DMD3. So many times posts sit and have no response then this one pops up and regarding a guy we haven't heard of and all these unregistered people just "happen" to stop by and read it? As they say I may have been born at night, but not last night!!
Also to send filthy emails is not a cool thing to do, if you guys are an example of what follows ole Eugene I never want to even hear him.

I believe my brother likes Eugene's music. I don't really care for his music myself, though.

And here I thought this topic was gonna be about a Cowboy Poet from Elko, NV.

Tarnation! DagNabbit! HeepEmWepMo! . . .

and other exressions of Old Wrangler displeasure.

Janice, glad to hear the vital scene in San Diego continues. I figure that kind of announcement might make a good topic on this side of the ol' Corfid.

BTW, Janice - John Stewart is gonna be in Lakeside on Nov 20 at Jimmy Duke's House Concert (it's Jimmy's 70th B'Day.) I'm hopin' to be there.

Adios all . . . I'm gonna go start that new topic.

Blessed Peace,

The Rez

PS: THIS JUST IN!!!! IN BETWEEN TYPING MY NAME AND THIS PS, MY MAMA JUST WALKED ALL THE WAY 'ROUND HER BED AND BACK AGAIN - W/O HER WALKER OR CANE!!!! THAT'S THE FIRST TIME SHE'S BEEN ABLE TO TAKE A STEP SINCE FALLING AND BREAKING HER HIP AND LEFT LEG ALMOST TWO YRS AGO.

HALLELUJHA!

I JUST HAD TO TELL SOMEBODY!!!!!
