Default The Gordon Lightfoot Story - Fm-108 - 1977

Here are some details of this broadcast from:-
http://www.lighfoot.ca/radioapp.htm
THE GORDON LIGHTFOOT STORY - FM-108 - 1977
This radio broadcast was done in the early fall of 1977 as part of the Hootenanny series. It featured songs interspersed with commentary. Highlights include clips of Lightfoot from 1962 as a member of the Two Tones plugging their single Lessons In Love
A recent google alert led me to rediscover this radio broadcast recording I had acquired previously that was now highligted on a blog page at:-
http://time-has-told-me.blogspot.com.../by-js-17.html
that page includes a link to download a double CD that contains this 1977 radio broadcast
I also found that the email address for the poster of that blog page is name @hotmail.co.uk
(obviously another closet UK Lighthead!)
that page includes a reduced size display of suitable CD jewel case artwork

small versions (400 by 199, and 400by 312 pixels)as on web page that link to the full sized images(1600 by 796 and 1336 by 1043 pixel) but the rear insert is rather too pale to read easily
Neither of the full sized images are the correct size for printing
These should be
front single page 4.75" wide by 4.72" high
front two paged "booklet" 9.5" wide by 4,72" high
and back 5.91" wide by 4.63" high
For reasons that I do not understand I have found that using a conversion rate of 96 pixels per inch for my particular computer/printer combination produces correctly sized prints:
Please experiment on yours before committing to printing on any expensive paper
I have therefore resized the two images to
booklet 912 by 454 pixels
back 567 by 444 pixels
and I will attach those two larger images below
I have slightly darkened the back to try to improve its clarity
I had noted that the jewel case back artwork includes the name of the presenter one Dave Jourdain and by googling I found that he was indeed on FM108
(Canada's original all-oldies FM station, FM 108 (CING-FM) in Burlington, On)
on that time-has-told-me.blogspot webpage under the signature
Warm Regards
JS
is a download link (D/L) that is in effect a shortcut to
http://rapidshare.com/files/18229806...M108_1977_.zip
which is actually accessed via
http://www.rapidmore.com/download_ra...=2111509432101
To use that link which is leads to the usual comical rapidshare download page alternatives follow the guidelines that I described so eloquently a while ago in my postings at
http://www.corfid.com/vbb/showpost.p...46&postcount=2
http://www.corfid.com/vbb/showpost.p...56&postcount=3
plus and the most complete one at:-
http://www.corfid.com/vbb/showpost.p...47&postcount=8
Note that the various images in that third posting now seem to have expired but I have started rewriting it as a pukka tutorial for future reference but meanwhile the contents of the text in that posting should enable anybody who wants to acquire this double CD to download the zip file from rapidshare then unzip it (using my recommemded freeware program jzip) to its constituent mp3s then use the freeware Express Burn program to burn 2 "gapless" CDs.
If anyone has a problem with this procedure please do not be content to laugh at my efforts but send me a Private Message explaining your dilemma. That way I can hone my instructions to improve my eventual tutorial.
whatever if all goes well you should end up with a 163076KB (155MB) zipfile which will unzip to a total of 40 high quality (192 KBPS) lossily compressed MP3s in two folders conveniently already named CD1 and CD2
I have now burnt the two gapless CDs from these mp3s directly using Express Burn but before I did I added each collection of mp3s to the freeware program burrn (yes it has 3 rs) in order to make these two screenshots detailing the CD's content

OK nothing strikingly new there but it is quite a nice collection . In particular I was pleased to get a higher quality mp3 of the rare Two Tones single track "Lessons in Love" (an early hit for the UK's answer to Elvis Cliff Richard (from the soundtrack of Cliff's film musical The Young Ones)
My previous copy had been made at the decidedly low- fi sampling rate of only 64KBPS by Gaby from Lestershire,UK after I met her at the Hamilton,ON 2004 thank you concert for McMaster Hospital.(I wonder what became of Gaby she just dropped out much like Jessie Joe has recently)

thanks, john...haven't come across the "story" part yet but it's downloaded (free)...had fingers crossed that it might include his 60s recording of My Love for You
